CK20 and quick attach FEL bucket

You do lose a little roll over angle on the FEL with the pin on QA. i.e. the bucket will not face straight down when up about six feet or so, only goes 45 deg at max lift.

That could be considered a safety feature to prevent you from dumping stuff on to or too close to your hood.;)

If you are cost conscious, like me, then the non plate type works just fine. All your attachments will work as is. If you get the skid steer plate mount type QA then every attachment has to have an adapter. With a little tractor like a 20, I feel the pin on QA as shown is adequate, with a bigger tractor I could see laying out a grand for the plate type QA. Good to know, I agree that the ss style is a bit overkill for the ck20. With all the thinking i've done on this in the past few days I'm starting to consider an alternative. All I'll ever put on the fel is my bucket and forks, so maybe I'll make up a bracket of sorts to attach the forks to the bucket?? Drawbacks are that the bucket weight takes away from lift capacity, and when i placed the forks in front of my bucket yesterday they just seemed to stick out front too far. Also, i like to be able to see when picking up a skid and the bucket gets in the way. Sigh....I guess i'll think this over more

I know Michigan Iron has a few bucket mods that allow for forks. I have a pin-on set of forks and would love an easier way of attaching them.

That being said, I have heard the quick attach plate on the CK-20 extends your bucket out enough to notice a decrease in lifting capacity. So, your thought to setting up the forks to hang on the bucket has some validity.

As I already have the forks, all I need is a reasonable plasma cutter and I can make up what I need. (Can anyone suggest such a thing for under $1K?)

You will lose a little lifting capacity doing it that way, but if you need that much lift, perhaps a forklift that keeps the forks level at all heights would be safer anyway.

Let us know what you end up doing.

HF sells a plasma cutter for about $600 as I recall. A US made model would cost about double. The US built models like Hypertherm, Lincoln and Miller are better but I'd imagine the HF will work too.

Went to my dealer today, they have designed a quick attack system for the ck20, they make them right there and he said they ship them to dealers across North America. He says it wont effect the angle of the bucket when at full dump and the whole thing weighs about 40 pounds. Thoughts?

Someone posted a you tube video of a guy attaching a snow removal implement with one of those. Seemed to work pretty well. It is not going to let you use skidsteer implements though as it has a proprietary receiver that needs to be welded to each implement.

Yeah that was me, I thought of that but i never plan on using any ss things anyway, aside from my bucket and forks i doubt I'll ever attach anything to the fel. I like how it is light and wont require much in the way of plates/brackets on my bucket to work.

I agree that there are very few SS attachments you would really want to use on a CK class machine. If this had been available when I got my grapple and Horst adapter for my CK20 I likely would have chosen it. If you can weld on the adapters to any implement you need then other than the modest cost of the receiver piece the only real downside I see is that if you ever want to sell implements you can basically only do it as a package deal with the tractor. Not the end of the world but a consideration. For me it turned out that I upgraded to a DK class which comes standard with the universal SS mount so I could use the same universal grapple without modification but honestly it would not be such a big deal to do the conversion if needed.
