Ck20 For a first time owner

I have been looking at getting a tractor for at least 6 months and today I looked at the CK20 gear shift. Quote was $11,500 with loader. Here are my current needs:
1. 3 ac of horse pasture with some slope, need to bush hog and drag with chain harrow 2. Maintain gravel driveway of about 700 ft.
3. Use FEL to move rock dust for the paddock, manure pile, and mulch etc 4. Eventually create/maintain a trail through the other 11 ac of woods.

Today, I decided that I just need to get the minimum tractor (read $) to cover my current needs. Since this is my first, I may find I need something else later. I prefer to go new because I need a machine that will do work not one that I have to work on!

I am I on the right path with the CK20? Is the quote reasonable? The literature says the PTO type is Transmission. What does that mean compared to a Live one?

The PTO type means that it runs through the transmission, is not independent so that the momentum of the PTO implement transfers through the tractor's transmission which, if it didn't have an overrunning clutch, could cause the tractor to be pushed forward even with the clutch depressed. The CK20 does, however, have an overrunning clutch which would prevent this from happening.
Also, when the clutch is depressed, the implement will begin to run down, not continue operating. I prefer the HST model with independent PTO, but the manual will do what you want it to do.
I've cleared wooded areas, a lot of loading, brush cutting, boxblading etc. and the CK20 just continues to astound me with it's ability. As for price, it's right in the ballpark of most regions as far as I can tell. The HST should be available for from $800-$1000 more. John

The hst ck20 in my area is about 12k with a fel , sounds close to average.

I have the CK20HST version of that tractor and just about exactly the same amount of land you have (pasture wise, but not overall), with exactly the same usages.

I'm going to clean it up this weekend... trailer it to a high pressure wash. I got stuck and had to paddle around with the FEL in the previous owners overgrown manure pile that I just found this past weekend. You can just barely see orange shining through the dung. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif I was trying to till up some dirt to use in redirecting drainage.

Your comparing a subcompact (Deere 2210) to a larger size compact tractor (CK20).

Based on your needs listed below.......

I would be leaning toward the larger compact size tractor vs. the subcompact tractor.....

I think the JD 4010 would be a more appropriate comparison. It's slightly cheaper than the 2210 and is a small CUT rather than a subcut.

The dealer I visited Saturday was pushing the 2210 over the 4010 since the 2210 had more HP (+3). He had a couple of good used 4010's I was interested in. One had a loader, a 54" MMM, HST, 189 hrs for $11,500. The new 2210 w/loader was $11,900.
