CK20 Hot Foot

After working on my CK20 for a while the heat gets uncomfortable on my feet, especially on the left (exhaust) side.

Are the clear plexiglass panels in front of the clutch and brake pedals on the larger models designed to block the heat?

I'm considering a CK30 for the extra power, but if cuts down on the heat that would be another incentive to switch.

Allen, in over 200 hours of having my CK20, I have never felt any heat coming from the platform.
You need to check it out and make sure there isn't something loose allowing exhaust to escape.
Also, check all your hyraulic lines to see where there are routed, and if they are the source of the heat.
The plastic guards on the CK25/30 are designeed to keep the tires from throwing dirt up onto the platform. John

my wife says the same thing about the heat on the left side foot rest area...when she's out mowing for a long time, she'll take along a little chunk of 4x4 to prop her foot up on...it seems to help a bit...I would imagine a shield of some sort would work well too!

John...we're talking about hours of field mowing here (at least i am!) to feel the heat!

Everything seems to be in order.

I usually wear open flip-flop shoes while I'm mowing, I think that makes worse.

That's what I thought, but it seems they would also divert some of the hot air from the engine.

I have 60+ hours and I run the tractor between 4 to 8 hours at a shot so far and I have never noticed heat from this area. I too used to wear flip flops while working in the yard until I just about lost one while on the lawn mower a couple weeks ago. I would check hydraulic lines also as they can get very warm.

That's what I was talking about too. Maybe it's like Allen said about his wearing of flip flops. I usually have on my steel toes when I'm out working. Still, even going all day I haven't noticed any extra heat in that area of the platform. I guess I just don't notice it. John

The only thing I noticed on mine is that is warm air blowing out around the side panel and around the clutch. This, from what I think is the fact that the fan is blowing the air back over the motor, muffler and exhaust pipe and out thru any passage it can find. I noticed after two or three hours the other day that the plastic cowling and the instrument panel were warm because of this. Hope this maybe explains some of it?

Never felt any foot heat, but depending on which way the wind is blowing I feel the heat coming back off the engine like Steve.

I noticed it when I was wearing sandals one day. My left foot got so uncomfortable that I would prop it up on the loader mount for awhile to give it some relief.
It is not noticable to me when I am wearing boots.
