Actually, Allison Transmissions are now a Chevy exclusive and only available in the HD Diesel trucks. Although, for 2003 Dodge started using a transmission completely designed by Mercedes-Benz for there G500 SUVs. It is a ton stronger and smoother shifting, but also a ton more sensors and electronics that can go wrong. I have put 44,000 hard miles on mine so far without a hiccup.
Do you have a tranny oil cooler ? Opening the hood to my truck, all you see is radiators : Engine Coolant, Tranny Oil Cooler, and A/C condensor.
It's good to know the old 360ci motor had the power.
I can't wait to pull the tractor with my truck.

I was under the impression that you could get the ally with the big 8.1 liter gas engine too.

Highbeam, you are correct. You can get the Allison tranny in the 2500HD and 3500HD trucks with the 8.1 V8. I would love an Allison tranny, but you will never catch me in a Chevy. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif
