CK20HST Problem

When running a hydro you can not push the pedal to the floor in a rapid manor you must move it slowly if you stab the pedal it will just kick the relief valve.
Try to slowly push the pedal and the tractor should move without a problem also make sure you are wide open throttle.

If this is the way you are operating your tractor than I would suggest that you have the dealer come out to your house and have them run the machine in the same area that you are having the problems.

I was serious kinda when saying some don't know what a hill is[has really nothing to do with hst though],I've lived in the hills all my live, and I've been in flat land country on various trips and have spent time working there, those flat landers got a whole nother way to describe a hill to you.

Seen pictures on here and other sites saying that they had this "hill",looked like a gentle slope to me.

Some people call the hills around me mountains, they are just hills to me,I've seen the rockey mts.,now those are mts.!

Anyways, back to the hst with the vodoo problems.

Hey maddmacc - when you were trying to take off were you mashing the HST peddel to the floor or just down an inch or more ? HST is not like stepping on the gas of your car ! Pushing it down a little = power . All the way to the floor = speed !

"20% 11 degrees Normal working limits of the TLB. Experienced operators (2 years or more using proper technique can usually work on slopes up to this gradient. In climates that do not get snow and ice dangers (high traction situations), 20% is generally the steepest grade recommended for driveways access roads, and shuttle routes" from page 9 Operating Techniques fro the Tractor-Loader-Backhoe by Gary J. Ober. I do not know if this same formula applies to smaller units such as the CK series. The cited passage is from a handy refernce book that is geared more toward commercial sized units. The 11 degrees is really not that steep a slope as slopes go. Simply put it sounds as though you might be trying to operate the CK beyond its probable incline limits. When I run my CK20HSTTLB on the sloped ground around my house I can always get up the inclines (probably not more than 11-14 degrees and no I am not an extremely experienced operator) even with a full loader bucket in the low setting on the hydro. I hope you get the performance you need out of your machine.

Hey thanks for the help just a few more points! My incline is steep but I have a Gravely riding mower that is not 4wd that I currently mow it with so I would think that the Tractor should not be limited by it. I had a FE and a 5ft finish mower attached to it! Tractor would just sit their with no noise and yes I was just barley engaging the hydro pedal and the motor was at full throttle note when I would push the hydro full pedal on that incline it would pull down the engine but would not kill it. I also tried to back up the inclines and it would go even less the distance. I did get the dealer to come and pick it up and showed him what it would do or would not do. I took the tractor up an incline all the way moved it over about a yard and about 1% increase in slope and it would not budge and would not make any noise it was as though it was in park or something. It runs fine on level and on slight inclines seems to have all the engine power that I need. I did speak with the dealer after reading the above comments and I feel it is the hydro so I told him I etheir wanted a new ck20hst or they could replace the hydro he said kioti had already authorize replacing he new hydro so he will order it on monday! He did say that when he took it back to the shop he placed the FE against a large tractor in the wet grass and it stalled and would not even spin the tires on the wet. So I hope they can fix the tractor and like I said thanks for all of the responses! I live in Beckley Wv so we do have some real hills and I purchased the tractor from Covington Va. and I dont think I have a bad dealer just frustrating to pay $13,000 for something that doesnt work should have let him bring it hear for a test first!

Well good for you, yeah, guess the guy wasn't that bad after all,and kioti is doing the right thing, and doing it quick it seems, thats the big thing now,how long it will take them to get you running like you should be running with a brand new tractor, keep us posted.

You did know there was a kioti dealer down below lewisburg on 219 didn't you,and one in rainell, both an hour closer to you.

Maddmacc:

Sorry to hear of your issues. there is nothing worse than than getting a defective unit. I think most dealers put the machines through some testing after they pull them from the shipping crate and do the final assembly before they put the machine on the sale floor. It sounds like the dealer will make you whole, but too bad they didn't have another unit they could give you instead or you having to wait for the repairs.

Anyway, once they get it corrected, you will have a little tank.

My house sits on the side of of Green Mountain so the driveway is on a fairly steep incline and in some areas exceeds 25 degrees. I run my CK20HST up and down the driveway all day long with the backhoe on and with the 54" bucket full of loam... no problem... and in the winter I push a 54" blower uphill while blowing 12 plus inches of snow... again no problems (well since the v-bar chains were added for winter traction!!!).

Bottom line, once they get your machine set up correctly, you should have no problems... wether with a full load in the fel or with a full load on the PTO...

I hope it all works out... and quickly. Keep us posted on your progress.

Hi maddmacc
I also live in WV, in the Clarksburg area. I bought a CK20HST from my dealer in Weston. I also live on a hillside and my CK will go up any of the hills I have with a 5 foot finsh mower and end loader full of dirt with no problems. I'm glad your dealer is standing by you and fixing your machine. Like everyone else has said you will love the 20 does everything I have ask it to do in the 100 hours I have used it. Good luck with your tractor.

Im glad youre going to get a new Hydro, but the anecdotes of your post do not fit together well at all. The increase in grade stopping your output could be low fluid. But not being able to spin in low while stalling the engine on level ground indicates something wrong with lo range or a heavily laden tractor or weak engine or something binding in the HST. The totally unloaded condition you experience on hills doesnt fit this. Maybe there is more than one problem.

Yeah,let us know what happened.

And don't forget ,you got a kioti dealer in rainell and one below lewisburg[south 219],which would be about an hour closer to you than covington,va.,speaking of which, why did you go all the way down there anyways?
