Tractor
MF 1225 w/loader, Case 1840 SS, Ransomes 723D mower
I've been looking for some kind of a small tractor for my acreage for some time. Went to a local dealer today to look at a couple of used Kubotas, and he got me on a CK20HST he has in stock. (yes I now know that is pretty rare in itself.)
Anyway, I was hooked on the CK20, so much nicer then any of the Kubotas he had. He quoted me a fairly decent price - just under $13,000 for the tractor, finish mower, and a 3 point blade. He will also deliver it. ( about 30 miles). I checked the net and found Little's in ILL. Their price on the same combo is 12,800. So real close in my book. The kicker is the sales tax I have to pay locally (About another $700) so then close to $1000 more. At any rate, I'm still likely to try and work something out locally. Just my nature, and this dealer seems like a good guy and a straight shooter.
Anyway, my questions....
1- He is saying I can pull a 72" finish mower with the CK20. Will I be able to do this ok? He had a 72" on it today and I just messed around in some short grass in his lot, not a big test. But it does seem like it has gobs of power!
2- He is suggesting a 72" angling 3 point blade for working my rock driveway and moving snow. Does that sound ok too?

Any other comments or advice welcomed too!

Thanks
Todd

Todd,

Both the Kioti Website and the CK20 Owners Manual recommend a 60" max on both of those attachments.

I'd be really leary about going over that size. Chance are it can pull that size, but why take the chance of destroying the tractor?

Todd,

I have a CK20 and I love it. Don't go over that 60" max. It will void Kioti warranties. /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif Even if the dealer said he would still honor the warranty, I don't think the risk is worth it. For example what if this dealer goes belly up, changes or you move near another dealer? If the 72" mower would really save you time, then I think you should consider getting a large enough tractor /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif to accomodate it.

Regarding the extra $700. I prefer to support my local dealer even if I have to pay more for two reasons: 1) He is probably going to be the one I call on for service. I don't want to have to deal with "potential" you did not buy it here problems. I know what all the manufactures and literature say, I just prefer not to have to worry about it. 2) It seems pretty reasonable to assume a tractor is going to last 20 years. So $1000/20years = $50/year, $4/month. For me, $50/year just isn't worth me spending the time to try and save it. I'ld rather be enjoying my tractor sooner. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif Heck, I'll just go out to dinner 1 less time a year.

The CK20 is a great machine and has a good design but a 72" mower is off limits. Thats why I almost got the JD4115. The ck wieghs more and can do more for the money. I saved almost 4 k. The 60"mower cuts real nice. I would take that ck while I had the chance. Who is the dealer? Jim
