CK20S HST power question

I loved the CK20 but it is WAY overdue for a three range HST.
Kubota upgraded their B series to three speed about three or four years ago. Kioti has dropped
the ball.

Top-of-the-line B-series tractors have 30+ hp 4-cyl engines. If Kioti upgraded to a 25 hp engine
in the CK20, that tractor would be even more amazing. Then even if it has only a 2-range HST, the
top range would be usable.

Yes, and Kubota's of the same basic size are always lighter too. IMO that is really only an issue with the CK20 though because of the two range HST. 21hp in the CK20 yields a tractor with better FEL capacity than any of the B range Kubotas so we are not really talking limitation simply due to engine size. I'd imagine a CK20 in low range would out pull the roughly equivalent B series under 30 HP simply because of the weight/traction advantage. Point being that 21HP gets a lot done and the lack of a three range HST more than more HP is the real issue. But, no question that upping HP would help overcome the HST issue.

I drove an LS J2030 this weekend. It's a 2 speed and did OK. It's higher HP and lighter overall, so this probably made the difference. As mentioned above, I think the combination of lower HP and higher weight makes the CK20 HST a dog in high range. Other than that, I think it would a good unit.

That's what Kubota did with the B21 upgrade to B26. I had a B21, which is about the same weight and power
as the CK20. B21: 3-range HST; hi range totally unusable, med range, level transport only. If Kioti made that kind of
upgrade to the CK20, a great tractor would become a fantastic tractor.

I'm no mechanic, but I'm sure it would cost a bit more. For my money, I would opt for the ck27 hst. With the quick attatch bucket, telescoping links and the 3speed hydro. I only paided $15499 for my ck35, so a ck27 hst could be had for at least $750 or more cheaper. That's not much more than the ck20, without the 3sp hst, telescoping links and QA.
