CK20S HST vs CK20 HST

It seems as though I may of had a little bit to much confidence in the kioti, and spoke too soon. I went out to day to go through the loader and make sure all the nuts and bolts were still tight. I then went to put the tractor away and remembered the post here about the high gear. So I went down to the end of the driveway and started up in high gear i got just about to the crest, and i did not want to make it struggle anymore.
The reason why I had said in my previous post that it would go up the driveway is because I had gone up the driveway about half way in high and then stopped to do something. I assumed that it would of went he rest of the way, and I was surprised that it did as well as it did after reading the post about the high range issues. So anyway the tractor does not make it all the way up, it goes about halfway. Then you have to stop and put in low range to go the rest of the way. I will still post a video if you guys want.

In regards to rimshot's post about block heaters

Have any of the dealers here heard of the kioti company putting block heaters in the s's at no charge to the owners this summer?? That would be great.

I may have reported that point incorrectly, sorry. Perhaps that point was to be accomplished as customer service provided by my dealer. I can't be sure it was sposored by Kioti. Sorry if I misled anybody.

No problem
It will be interesting to see if they do something about the issue though, especially if they have admitted to there being an issue.

I looked up the top speed in my manual (CK20 HST) and it says 9.3 mph as well. That would be with Ag tires as well-which might be a tad faster than industrials and quite a bit faster than turfs. I looked over the CK20S HST at the Louisville Farm Show and I did not see anything that made me believe that I had to trade. When looking at the specs in my manual it says that a CK 20 is 21 gross engine horsepower-on the Kioti website it states 22 gross HP for a CK20S. On a HST my PTO HP is stated at 15.5 and the CK20S HST is 16.2. Now, displacement is 927 cc on a CK20 and 1007 on a CK20S. I believe in the statement "there is no replacement for displacement", but I think with new emissions for some reason everyone is going with bigger displacement without a big increase in power.

I use mine mainly on a 5' power rake so I need PTO hp. It has been a great machine and I really like it, but I am not believing that an extra .7HP is going to give me drastic improvement. I did read with great interest the post that said there were great improvements though and they could tell the difference- so those that know keep posting.

If I were to give a recommendation I would say to save the money. If I am going to spend money on a trade or move up to the power that I really need, I would go to something like a TYM273 or a John Deere 2520 and hopefully get drastic differences in power in similar chassis size. Just my .02 - I would guess that you would be happy with either machine.

If these are Tier III engines then yes, the HP bump is most likely to handle emissions requirements. I design heavy machinery for a living and we have a constant, on-going effort to meet EPA emission requirements.

We are bumping HP on all machines! We have to in order to maintain operating performance as the emission requirements rob HP. If I'm not mistaken all '08 and newer machines will require Tier III compliant engines. 2012 brings yet another round (Tier IV). I don't think it will ever stop, at least until we switch over to "magic" powered engines. If anyone knows where I can source one for a reasonable price let me know! I'll split my raise with you!:D

I would have to believe that if the lugging problem is not noticed in the newer "S" models it is likely a function of "gearing" not so much the HP. It may contribute a small amount though.
