Thanks for the heads up,, I'll put some survey steak/flags next to the hole.

Back to the hour meter the dealer said to check the connections, so I take a closer look at the firewall tonight and see what I can find. He had run into another one that had the same problem. Hopefully I'm crossing my fingers it is a quick fix.

The CK25/30s both have digital hour meters that measure actual time. Something must not be right with yours.
My CK20 does have analog and is based on RPM hours not actual clock time as yours should.

John:

Does this mean that all digital hour meters measure actual time?

Well, I believe so, but I'm not positive. They start measuring the time as soon as the engine is started, and continue in regular time regardless of the RPM setting.
The one on our tractors is analog and we can indeed slow the clock by reducing RPM.

Sounds like they work like the little digital Tiny-Tach you can buy for hour and RPM monitoring that connects to the spark plug wire of lawn mowers, snow blowers etc.

The manual for my new CK30 advised that the hour meter is not equal to clock hours. It's equal at 2200 rpm. Slower under that and higher over that rpm. Not exactly sure how it works but it measures use instead of normal time. Naturally, something run harder should have service more often. Sorry, KiotiJohn. Just going by the manual and what I think mine is reading. I'll have to check my watch and see what it does per an rpm setting when I'm going to run it steady for a while. A friend of mine works on airplanes and has told me about that with a planes hour meter or they call it a Hobbs meter. I'll ask him how it works and is there any conversion table per rpm. If you put another hour on it at your rpm's and it doesn't change, then maybe it's time check for lose wires or for a warranty repair.

The latest version/revision of the CK25/30 manual (courtesy of KJ) states:

1.The hour-meter indicates, in five digits, the hours that the tractor has been operated.
Records the hour, and portions of the hours that the tractor has been operated while the engine is running. Its operation is not based on engine RPM, but is electrically determined.

Not sure if this solves the debate, but in trying to fix the hour meter on my tractor, the dealer has provided me notes from Kioti. The hour meter is run off of an FFT solenoid that is on the firewall behind the engine block (CK25). From what the notes indicate the alternator sends a volt to the FFT Solenoid then it converts it to pulses. In doing so after 3,600 pulses the hour meter then counts 1 hour. That's how I'm understanding how it is suppose to work, from what I'm told.

That's because you have an older manual which the Koreans basically just copied from the CK20. I rewrote that manual last year, but they left out the new, extensive Index I created for it. I can send you a MS Word file with the new information if you want.
The older manual is gold-colored at the top front cover, the newer one is white and has the new Daedong / Kioti logo on it (no more Star Trek emblem). Contact me at kiotijohn @ bellsouth.net so I can send you the new manual.
Yes, the hour meter is run off the alternator, and it measure the time from the time you start the engine until shut down.
