CK25 getting hard to start

My CK25 starts easier if I don't wait on the glow plugs when the weather is warm.

Had a customer with these same symptoms last spring. it was the glow plug relay under the hood. If the timer is working, the dash light still works as normal. This was weird because I could get 12 volts coming from the relay but not when plugged into the glow plug bus. It was letting volts through but no amps... swapped the relay and all is well.

Well, I called the dealer up. Came right over, diagnosed a bad relay as Bluechip suspected, than came back later in the day and swapped it out. Ol' Wile E fired right up.

My dealer was great. Fast, pleasant service. Two thumbs up for Stan at S&W Feeds here in Carson City.:D

I would think a person could check electricity to glow plugs by using a test light with clip grounded and pointy part on glow plug terminal, turning on key and seeing if test light is on all the while dash indicator is lit.
This is not a foolproof test as a sufficiently talented fool can screw up just about anything. :~}

I start my tractor all the time in 55 degree plus weather w/o glow plug wait and it cranks right off w/ no undue smoke.

Yes a test light would work better than a meter as when bluechip said letting volts but not amps thru. However still could let thru (dirty relay contacts) only enough to light lamp and fool you...
