CK25 - Is it enough?

Hi all,

I was just curious if anybody thinks that the CK25 with FEL and 5 foot box blade would not be enough tractor for the following task:

Finish grading on 2 acres where I will be building house.

Minor road work in and around tree farm on 80 acres with some grass cutting.

I should add that I have full access to a full size dozer for any of the large tasks.

Hey Manny. Welcome to the forum.
I am going to assume a lot here, but I suppose you're not going to build the whole two acres, so I see no reason you couldn't use the CK25 and BB to accomplish the task.

As for the other, how much grass are you going to be cutting? A CK25 could take a long time to cut a lot of acres.

You should easily be able to maintain and even create new access roads.

All that said, I can't help thinking that you should probably go with the CK30 though. The extra 5HP on the same frame will make a good bit difference, and you seem to have a lot of property and will find many other tasks you'll want to do after you have the tractor.

I think the amount of grass cutting is going to be a big deciding factor.

The dozer for the big work and the CK for the cleanup. My CK30 seems very capable for finish grading and 5 HP less may only add a bit more time to the process.

Full size dozer as in D6 or as in D11? We must have action pics of this.

No I would not be building on the whole 2 acres of course although it would be nice if I could afford such.

I looked at the CK30 and am leaning towards the 25 mainly due to $$$. Budget is tight and thought to use the difference for implements and a trailer later. I would not be doing much mowing withe 25, just trails mostly.

Then I think the CK25 would do fine. I've been on both models and find them to have plenty of power, and they're easy to operate as well. Good luck in your buying adventure, and let us know how it's going. There are many here to help you when/if you need us.

I had spoken with one dealer who stated that I could boost up the 25 to a 30HP for about $150 by changing out the injectors. Any truth to that??

The CK25 will easily do what you have indicated and much more.

I'm not really qualified to answer that, but it seem possible. Someone who knows more about diesel mechanics should be able to answer this for you. How much is this person saying it would cost for the parts and labor, and how does that compare to just buying the CK30 in the first place. Also, you have to consider that that operation may void your warranty.

I think you'll be happy with the capability of the CK25, my CK30 has yet to disappoint me, and I do a lot of the same things you're wanting to do.

One more thing Manny. If you are going to finance the purchase, how much more will you have to pay per month for the CK30 over the CK25 over the entire finance period? Maybe it's a livable difference to get the higher powered machine.
