Got a loud screech on startup today, probably 3 seconds, seemed longer. Didn't like to hear that.. Sounded like it was by the clutch area.

It might have just been the starter bendix got hung up for just a second. Sometimes you can remove the starter and use some dry film lubricant on on the nose cone..
IF its the starter, when it hangs up, if you "burp" the throttle, the sudden increase then decrease in speed will free it up.
