Thanks for the Summit link. Recommendations on gear lube for the front axle? I can't seem to find anything in bulk quantities other than the cheap stuff at tractor supply.

I also use the trans/hyd fluid in my front axle. It is more than up to the task. If its good enough for all of the high pressure abuse in the transmission, its certainly up for the front axle.

I wouldn't think Hyd/fluid would be a good substitute for gear lube ? Not even close to the same type of lube needed for axle gears .

transmission/hydraulic fluid

424 falls into this category doesn't it? I agree with hydraulic fluid not being of the same thickness as 90W but if the book calls for it???

Have a look at this document. View attachment Lubricant Chart Kioti.pdf
specifically the "front axle oil" column, near the bottom. Then have a look over at the "potential transmission oil supplier and name" block.

If there is question of whether its good enough for the small front axle, ask yourself, what lubricates the rear axle?

Using anything other than what Kioti recommends could also void your warranty should you have any Tranny/Axle failures. I searched local and online when I serviced mine last month...Summit was the best deal on oil I could find. It comes in 2-1/2 gallon jugs...makes it easy to pour.

Following Kioti's service recommendations is important, to be sure, but that does require using only the brands of transmission fluid specifically listed in the manual. As long as it meets Kioti's specifications, it will not void the warranty. In fact, FTC regs promulgated under the Magnuson-Moss Act generally prohibit manufacturers of consumer products (which includes these tractors) from conditioning warranty coverage on use of any specific article or service that is identified by brand, trade or corporate name.

Regarding the Traveller Premium Universal Trans/Hydraulic Fluid in particular, FWIW, the Q & A on the TSC site states:
Universal Tractor Hydraulic is formulated with viscometric and elemental characteristics which make it suitable for use in applications which may also call for Mobil 424.
