CK30 Tach Trouble

Thanks so much for the post there! I took apart my dash and put it all back tonight. I was looking to see if the connection wasen't good. It was fine and I dabbed a spot of dielectric grease on the one pin. Did that to the pickup sensor as well. Yes, grasping at straws I know. There was no change. But I was starting to question the pickup sensor as I never measured 481hz which is 850rpm. But you're confirming for my it does idle at 1000rpm which sounds right then because mine was around 560 and Kioti says 1000rpm is 560hz so it must be working. Dang!

The dealer is going to let me return that DU though so that's good.

Well, wished I'd read this earlier............let me know if you go for that complete dash unit 'cause I bought one a few years ago just to replace the fuel and temp gages! So I have the tach/hour meter (brand new 0 hours) cluster just sitting here which I may be willing to sell far cheaper than the price of a whole new assembly. What year is your kioti?

All manuals (workshop and service) are available free at pfgaustralia.com.au I downloaded the whole lot for my CK30.
Tacho faults are at the end of the workshop manual.

Possible Cause
• Trouble in eletronic pick-up sensor,
display unit or wrong wiring.
• Gear in combination meter defective

Thanks Alien. I have the paper manual now as well. I did see that in there. My dash is all electronic no cables. Since my tractor is in fact idling at 560hz that is 1000rpm. I verified those numbers right up to the DU. Out of the DU it halves the numbers which is right after all. I think in the future this thread is going to save someone a lot of trouble. Try 2-3 weeks of trouble. haha

I started having thoughts about that PS. But I think Victor silenced those. Even if the PS didn't work right above idle speed then the tach should still read 1000 at idle at it doesn稚. Just reads a dumb 0. It'll slowly rev up to 500 and that's it. What a bummer!
