Mine seems to "leak down" very quickly. It still works just fine though.. Is it a problem?

I'm no expert on the subject but when mine was at it's worst it was very irritating. I would have to stop and raise the main boom to keep the bucket off of the ground unless I had the pin in the boom to stop it and then that got so it was almost impossible to put in until I got a smaller diameter pin. I am not sure how fast yours leaks off but if is like mine was you would not doubt want to have it looked at. Mine still leaks off and seems to be faster now than when the valve was replaced but nothing like it was.

Talked to Travis Group about a Kioti BH yesterday, he suggested getting one with a PTO driven hydraulic pump instead of using the tractor's hydraulics.

Sounds good to me, anyone done that?

I believe I've read several posts from members who use a PTO pump instead of the tractor hydraulics. They were all happy with the set up, and it maintained the fluid in the backhoe without contaminating the rest of the tractor's system. Not a bad way to go in my estimate.

The independent PTO driven BH will add a good bit of weight. The pump itself plus the big ol' fluid reservoir. Also the tractor's system is run through a cooler to keep the fluid temperature under control.

I like the idea of separate systems though to minimize cross contamination. Don't think I would consider a Kioti BH with such alternatives as the Woods out there.

Thanks guys. I do want to go with Kioti, I've had no trouble so far with the ck30hst, and i do like the color!

Tractor hydraulics will operate it much more quickly and at pretty-much the same price as it would to put a pump kit on the unit.
The upside is also having remotes to use when the hoe is not on the tractor.
I wouldn't worry about contamination to the tractor unless you are very careless.
Always cover the ports on both sides and always wipe them off before hooking them up.

Why would you worry about contamination of your tractor hyd fluid by the fluid used in your backhoe? You don't worry about contamination from fluid used in your loader, or your T&T cylinders for that matter. Your expensive tractor comes with a very well-designed hyd pump/filters/cooler/reservoir system that is intended to operate implements. Use it!

woods seems about $7k, kioti with separate pump about $6K. woods normally includes separate pump, local guy says easy on and off.
