CK30HST Gear Selection--Use Brake

Well after three years I have suddenly discovered that if you press down hard on the brake when selecting a gear on the HST, it eliminates much of the sticking of the lever!

This is in addition if you wish, to pushing in the clutch.

That's weird. I just double-clutch . . . will try the brake stomp too next time.

I have always found that holding the brake before switching from Low to High or vice versa makes a huge difference. I use the clutch too as well. If you think about it, there are two gears making contact and when you got to switch the gears, they are holding the weight of the rolling tractor on them. By pressing the brake, the weight is now on the brakes and the gears are more free to move and switch.

Stomp the break and treat it as a normal transmission with no problems!

LOL! A chuckle to get my morning started right!

Just one of the 'things' I love this l'il tractor for is it's GO power. 4WD Low, rear axle locked, it plows the dirt and knocks small trees out of the way about as well as being on tracks. I coulda' started using this CK30 years earlier rather than keep using the l'il JD dozer for everything, which tears up the ground and driveway on the way to and from jobs (of course.) Was pleasantly surprised that a HST could handle it, and I Love my CUT.
