The only time I have been able to stall it is when I operate both the FEL and the hydrostat.

Let's say just the hydro pedal is being pushed and you are pushing into a hillside of dirt at some point you will either spin the tires or the system relief valve will let go? Yes?

Could the relief valve be set too low or faulty?

Assuming there is not a drive problem would going to a CK35 help much?

5 more HP won't get you much of anything. You are currently not able to use the 30 HP you have since without the engine stalling or tires slipping you MUST be hitting the relief of the HST. If you had 50 HP and the relief set too low the same thing would happen. The hydraulic relief is basicly a slipping clutch right? More HP would just make it slip sooner.

I am able to stall my CK's engine with just the HST pedal and so should you. Either engine stall or slipping tires even in medium range.

So if you pull up to an obstacle in low range with engine RPMs up above 2000 and slowly push on the forward control of the HST pedal what happens? I mean slowly add pedal all the way to the metal. Does the engine lug a little and then more and more to engine stall? Does the engine lug a little and then stay the same all the way to PTM (petal to metal)? Or does the engine lug a little and then tires slip at a speed consistent with pedal position.

It has got be one of the above. If it is the second one then you need an adjustment to be made.

A new tractor might fix the problem but it can be another 30 or a 20 or a 40. It isn't the HP of the tractor that is your trouble.

Hello Tim, that loader you have is as strong as you will find on any 30hp machine. Perhaps your relief valve does need to be adjusted. Have you talked to your dealer about this situation? Matt

I got out the halogen lights and went to work on the bank of dirt behind my deck. I Jettisoned the tree shovel and put my 66" bucket on (toothbar is in hand but not installed yet). I left the backhoe on for now.

Starting at 2600 rpms in low range I WAS able to bog the engine and easily stall it with just the HST (I was incorrect in my previous post). The more I pushed the pedal the more the engine bogged.

I had not done any FEL digging until tonight because I have been scrambling to get as many plants moved as possible before warmer weather. I am much more impressed after tonight. I am looking forward to getting the toothbar on.

So now I know engine power is my limiting factor. At least with the backhoe on.

Next I'll take the backhoe off and see if I can get those tires spinning.

Thanks.

So, were you able to get a bucket load of dirt or did it just stall as you hit the pile. Mine is an animal in low and will kill a pile of dirt, but if I go into a pile too fast, and not use the right curl, lift, drive, combo it will stall or spin.

I dont know if taking the hoe off will help, you need some counter wieght. Traction is a good thing.

Yes, with the right curl and lift I was taking nice bucket fulls out. Still learning.

My rears are filled so I should be ok without the backhoe, yes?
And the subframe will still be on.

Why will the subframe still be on? Most of it comes off with the backhoe if you pull the two pins and driveaway, or am I miss understanding what you consider the subframe?

The subframe that stays with the tractor is pretty significant. It is so substantial that I considered buying one just for the underbelly protection.

So a backhoe at 1000 lbs, the loader at 800, the tractor at 3200, the loaded tires at heavy, gives enough traction to use all 30 HP even in low range when you bury that 66" extra wide bucket. You might have made a combination that pushes the limits of 30HP. Technique will help some and so will the toothbar if your pile was hard packed. An industrial backhoe with a cummins diesel will certainly have more power to scoop that pile. You will have to decide whether you need to buy more power or practice using what you've got. I vote for gaining experience with the current machine and seeing how things go.

IXLR8,

Items 1,2,5 and 6 stay with the tractor. I'd guess maybe 150-200 lbs.

My bad... I didn't notice you had the Woods BH. On my Kioti BH, most all that stuff comes off with the BH, there is just 3 brackets that the BH slides into. I would doubt the 3 pieces weigh 100lbs total.
