CK35 and rear mount snowblower (size limit?)

So I'm looking to pick up a rear mount blower.

I found a good deal on a 7ft rear mount but I'm pretty sure that's too big for the CK35 HST????

But I've heard the HST might save me as I could run it slower than a geared tractor should the snow really pile up and start bogging down the tractor? Should I just give it a try and if not just re-sell the blower?

I've never ran a PTO blower so I have no clue how much you need, but I would expect it depends on snow depth and how wet the snow is really.

Thoughts?

The size of the blower is important, but what is mandatory is how much HP the blower needs My CK30 runs a 66'' normand blower, tractor is 24 hp at pto, and the blower recommends 25-40hp at the pto. I can blow snow alright but the tractor really bogs down is the snow is packed or wet I believe 7ft i a bit too big for your tractor, unless you enjoy working slowly in low range:laughing:

You should have 4 more hp than Kiotikarl but I don't think enough for a 7 footer. You'd be creeping or not taking a full width cut. A 6ft would be a better match. Around here, the price on used snowblowers seems to be a lot less than the original price even if it's in good condition. You may not get the money out of that 7ft unless you're getting it dirt cheap.

Yeah sounds like I'd be creeping with the 7ft one.

The guy selling wasn't sure the HP requirements he ran it off a 60hp Massey.

I've seen a couple 6'6" would those be too large as well?

Or should I just look for a 6ft max... I'd like to have a bit more width than the tires which I could do with a 66" blower, but of course a bit wider means less passes.

I run a Blizzard 74" blower with no issues on my 3054xs(gear/shuttle) with 28 gross HP, even though Kioti advertised as a 30.5. I have run it in high range, 1st gear in the 1000 pto option in snow up to about 8/10 inches at 1600 rpm. Wet snow or depths over 10" or so I use the 540/2600 option and low range in various gears. I can't imagine you having a problem with a HST tractor with 35 gross HP

My 2004 CK30hst has the 1000rpm but the pto lever was blocked by a small steel plate where the lever goes through the body sheet metal. You may want to check. All I had to do was remove the plate and the lever then moved the other direction. I don't think the 1000rpm was an option and they all had it. Only the mid pto 1000rpm was an option.

I have a 70" on my DK35se
The issue is more how large the auger is and the fan are than width.

ex: 70" is WAY easy for my DK35se. But I only have a 6" deep fan 21" diameter.
A 8"-9" deep fan with a 22" or 23" inch diameter fan would be a better match, with a 72" width. But may be too much for a CK30.

Deeper and larger fans move more snow faster.......equals your can travel faster before "stuffing" the blower. Minus is that doing that requires more HP.


Summary: Depending on the fan/auger size, a 84" or even 78" may be too wide for your CK35. Unless it had a smaller fan/fan depth (like 20" or 21" fan 5" or 6" deep). Though doubt you'll have a fan that small on a 84" blower. Easy enough to measure if you're physically there. You will need to go slower however.....
