Nice looking job on those forks. Would have swiped your idea if I hadn't blown the money on Payne's a few years back. ;)
One of those deals where I absolutely needed forks right away because I was having a steel building delivered and had to get the banded together sections off the tractor trailer somehow.

Some simple quick forks I made from scraps for my TC33 NH bucket. Made from 1 1/2 " channel iron and 1 1/2 " angle iron. I welded the angle to the webs of the channel iron webs. Angle cuts on the leading edge sealed with caps.
My bucket had holes already drilled for something so I used the spacing for the bolt pattern , Welded the bolts in the channel and added a 1 1/2" x 1 1/2" x 1/2" spacer on the back edge to level them on the bucket before closing them up with the angle and end caps.
They are about 20 in. long and bolt to the underside of the bucket, 2- 3/8 " nuts hold them in place.
I keep the forks attached to the scrape blade when not in use with elastic straps.

That was the major complaint that I saw, that is why I used two clamps. I grabbed the tips and shook them back and forth without them moving. It's a major advantage over the one clamp version everyone sells. Wonder how long before someone sells a two clamp version now? Tell them to send me a check! :)

Sorry to bust your bubble but I built a set over a year ago that had dual clamping design. So PM me and I will give you my address to send your check to:D

Source for cheap acme thread:

Scrap yard, and buy screw sissor type car jacks! (like honda uses)
My local yard asks only $5.00 for them!
And that is real acme thread!

Also those jacks are great for trailor leveling legs with a few mods.
I converted a pair for my camper trailer by cutting away the cranks so I drive the jack with a battery powered drill and socket.
Also made 'quick sockets' sort of like a trailer sleeve so that I can remouve and store the jacks while travelling.

Did a little amateur welding job today and added some angle iron wings to a set of Payne's light duty (800#) forks.
Hopefully this'll stop the side to side motion that occurs if you don't hit something squarely. I also bent 2 pieces of 1/4" flat bar stock into a U shape to place under the screws so that they don't gouge the bucket on my new tractor. The upright parts of the U serve as a stop so that it doesn't spin out from under the screw while tightening.
Just teaching myself to weld with a Craftsman 120 volt wire feed welder. No laughing at the welds! :)
Haven't used them since the modification, but you can have the idea if it works, Bob Payne! ;)
