If I were you, I'd start building from the house side and angle it down a little to the outside. Foundation problems will then be avoided. John

The house is definitely a low, low spot. But the picture is deceiving. This picture is taken with me standing by the white cased window in the previous picture. I'm facing back toward the garden plot I just tilled. The retaining wall is about 10 feet from the house. No runoff problems in 12 years so far. I appreciate your concern and advice though. Thanks.
