"clean fill wanted"

Re: \"clean fill wanted\"

Shorty, Guess is the right word. As I explain you'll see what I mean. Without going into the formula used where number of axles and length between axles determines gross weight, I'll just say that 26 tons is the highest gross weight I've ever seen legal on a tandem, without an overweight permit. So we will use that number.
We need to subtract from that the empty weight of our example truck. Truck weights can vary, newer trucks tend to be lighter than older trucks. Mack R models are built heavy duty, and can weigh in at 15 to 16 tons. Size and how full the fuel tanks are can have an effect. Let's say our example truck is about average, so I would give it an empty weight of 10.5 tons.
That means our truck is carrying 15.5 tons of dry sand legal as can be. So now all we have to do is convert tons to yards.
On dry sand my best educated guess would be about 1.5 tons to the yard. If my math is right that means our legal truck is carring about 10.33 yds. This assumes that the truck was loaded correctly, not too much to one side, not too much to the front or rear. As I said guess is the key word, but you can see we are no where near the 16 yds. You can also see how these tandems get into trouble on their axle weights.

Re: \"clean fill wanted\"

that did it, thanks Ernie. I more or less figured it was fill it up close to the top and let it ride. thanks again.
