OK... this is really strange, or, at least it is to me...

I've got almost 30 hours on my 3525 now, and the engine oil looks to be still just as clean as when it came out of the jug...

I've never seen a diesel do this (or, I should say, NOT do this)... never. I don't know if I should be happy or if I should be really worried . I'm thinking that oil should be Black by now??

Is this possibly because of the new ULSD fuel? Or, are the Mahindra engines just that tight when they're new? It still smells like a diesel when you start it up... does lowering the sulfur content in the fuel reduce the soot levels by that much too? I wouldn't think that it would, but???

What is your experience with the M&M engines in the M&M built tractors and how long did it take the oil to turn black?

My Yanmar FX335-D has clean oil with over 900 hrs. on it.

Yes, I change it often (every 50 hrs.:) )

Factory oil? One possibility is the oil isn't holding the soot in suspension like it should. I too have never seen a diesel not turn oil black in short order. Of course if you are looking at it on the dipstick it may be hard to tell, I've seen oil look pretty clean on the dipstick but when drained into a pan it definitely isn't all that clean...

If you are only looking at the oil on the dipstick you may be in for a shock when you drain the oil pan. :D :D :D

Yep, this is the factory oil... I was going to change it at 50 hrs instead of the OM recommended 100 hrs, and then change every 100 hrs after that... Book recommends 200hr change interval.

Yeah, I'm looking at the oil on the dipstick... so I know it might look cleaner than it really is...I've seen that before... but I mean this oil looks CLEAN:confused:

I might just go ahead and change it at 30 hrs instead of 50 with some Rotella 15W-40.

Since these tractors (25 series) are finished and dyno tested at Tomball (or is it Red Bluff, CA or Calhoun, GA?), do they do the initial crankcase/transmission/hydraulic fills there or is that done in India, anybody know?
