We got about 5 inches of rain last week and it is finally drying up enough to clean up. I had to cut down 2 of my big pecan trees, so I am cutting them up for firewood. boy, that pecan is hard to split.I borrowed a friends home made splitter. It has a 5 hp Briggs with a small pump and a big cylinder. Slow but powerful.

You might need a little bigger cordwood wagon on the job. SteveV

jim,
I know nothing about pecan tree,so what kind of wood is it other than hard to split..like elm also whats the heat value..like hardwood..are they a fast growing tree?

Hope your not going to use the wagon in the sand box to haul the split wood. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Steve, the way natural gas prices are going up, I will need all the firewood I can get next winter!

Thomas, pecan is a hardwood and if let dry this summer will be about the same as oak for heat value, after seasoning out it really burns well. It sparks and crackles a lot though.
