Jim, I'm going to guess that you've used pecan for firewood in the past and are familiar with it; nothing wrong with it; I have one neighbor who uses it almost exclusively because he has so much of it; HOWEVER, don't keep it too long. Old, thoroughly dried pecan wood was the worst wood for popping and throwing sparks that I ever put in a fireplace. Hope you have a good screen in the front of the fireplace and a spark arresting cap on top of the chimney.
