Jim, I'm going to guess that you've used pecan for firewood in the past and are familiar with it; nothing wrong with it; I have one neighbor who uses it almost exclusively because he has so much of it; HOWEVER, don't keep it too long. Old, thoroughly dried pecan wood was the worst wood for popping and throwing sparks that I ever put in a fireplace. Hope you have a good screen in the front of the fireplace and a spark arresting cap on top of the chimney.

Rob. There is not much pecan cut for industrial use around here, however, it is used to make fine furniture.

in the photo wood2 jpg the big white tank you see in the background is a grain tank owned by Bunge Corp. it is sitting on the bank of White River. They ship a lot of grain down river to greeneville, Ms. I am about 1/4 mile from the river
What is all the green stuff on the ground? Is that grass? The world up around the Great Lakes is still white, with a bit of brown showing through. That green stuff is encouraging.
