I got to work this am, and there was a browning 22 semi auto rifle leaned up against my file cabinet. the style that you pull a spring tube out the back, and can then load in some LR shells thru a hole inthe stock, then reseat the magazine tube spring, and then the cocking piece is underneath.. don't know the model number.
gun belongs to my boss's nephiew, and he said fire pin must be broke as it will only fir once about every 3-5 shots. I'm the 'gun guy' at work since i collect C&R guns and other things.. etc.
Took 10 seconds to see the inards of the gun looked horribly dirty. Took another 30 seconds to figure out how to strip the gun down and seperate the action .. ( I don't really work on guns.. I just collect as a hobby and ... so i pat myself on the back for figuring stuff like this out.. though i have had my hands on just about every kind of action and take down style out there..)
Owner was leaving to go out of state and wanted to get it fixed fast.. I had a can of electrical cleaner and wd-40 ( yuck ) with me... that and a few qtips and a jewlers screwdriver set and i had it back together prety quick.
Took it out to our lime rock mine at lunch and boy howdy.. it shoots great.
The owner was surprised I 'fixed' it so fast and asked what was wrong. I'm not sure he liked my answer which was " I've bought guns from the 1800's that were cleaner."
