My step son gave me one of those for Christmas that belonged to his Grandfather. It was pretty dirty too, but shoots like a champ. My Granddad had one, but it was stolen many years ago in a home burglary.

I wouldn't allow someone else to sight in my rifles. I want my rifle set up for me, by me. I'd let you get me on paper if you wanted, but I'd dial it in. Sounds like you got a good thing going

See, that's how I feel.. i would want to dial in my own gun .. not let somebody else do it for me.. ESPECIALLY when hunting..e tc.

I do a lot of (well, as much as I can anyhow) of long distance shooting (500+yds). I shoot with a couple of other guys (ex-Marines) and we have a really good time...camaraderie is excellent. Anyhow, one of the guys is a crack shot. He's in his 60's and was in Vietnam, then came back to the world, was a deputy and when he retired, he was one of the armorers/shooting instructors for the Orlando SWAT team. Needless to say, he has taught me a lot and works with me with a lot of patience.

I can shoot his rifle that he shoots 2.5" groups at 500 yds with, but I'm lucky to hit 6" groups. Then he'll shoot it right after me and hit 2.5" groups of 5. I can shoot 4" groups with my rifle, then he'll shoot mine and hit 5-6" groups. It goes back and forth like this.

The thing is, his parallax, length of pull, cheek pad, eye relief, etc. is set up for him, as mine is for me. Sure, we can get on paper, even kill a buck with each other's stick, but for tack-driving, I want to dope mine out for me. (Of course, 4 or 5" groups at 500 yds ain't tack driving)
