Another vote for a quick shot with the air compressor for me.

Compressed air first, then the toothbrush and attention to the groove in the bar. Change the chain. ready..Jy.

I have the same saw and noticed cutting oak that the chain will freeze up if I don't clean or lube it immediately after use.

Something about the oak that gets into the links and drys hard.

I have not had this problem with other woods...

So, liberal use of WD-40 on the chain at the end of the day.

Thats usually a sign of a lack of lubrication or too thick and sticky. I tried and now avoid Poulan brand oil because of this. I believe a thinner viscosity oil will travel out into the link pins better. I cut a lot of northern species of oak with a Stihl 440 Magnum and a Husky 51 (had a couple McCulluch's also) and have no problem. I can wiggle the links and always see a little oil in there. Some saws have a oil rate adjustment, don't know about yours.

Do you have some oil left in the tank when the fuel runs dry? My Husky can run out of oil before fuel when I'm making several big cuts so I stop and refill before the fuel runs out.

Do you have an open oil passage system? That would include the oil pump hole and slot on the saw body, the mating oil hole on the bar, and the bar channel itself. You should be able to hold the bar tip close to something and spin up for 15-20 seconds and see oil flinging onto the object.

Embarrassed to say that I don't know.

I bought the saw from my local Dealer 5 months ago and he had it set up to go when I picked it up.

Also bought a gallon jug of Stihl Bar Oil and two 6 packs of fuel mix.

Noticed the chain stiffness the next morning after using my first tank to cut some larger oak limbs hanging over my tractor trails... always run out of fuel first with some bar oil left in the oil tank.

The manual that came with my MS 250C is out in the barn... I think the oil rate is adjustable?
