Cleaning Propane Grill Burners

I don't expect bulletproof, but I do expect it to at least keep pace with a 20 year old model. I also expect it to outlast the $100 walmart special I got when I graduated from college. It has failed both of those tests.

I guess that's been a common theme around here though, you can't even pay for quality in today's world. Nobody is out there making quality stuff at ANY price point.

The 20 year old model was probably not built in China and has substantially better materials and workmanship.

I have been reading this all along but did not have my brain engaged!!

I do a lot of Dutch oven cooking and there for I also do a lot of Dutch oven seasoning! If you take your grills heating element/head/tube out and placed it on an old cookie sheet into your self-cleaning oven and turned the oven to self clean. After it finishes then blow them off with your air compressor. :)

I have not done this exact thing but it works on old cast iron pots with 100 years of gunk on them! What do you have to lose! If it does not work then you still get credit for cleaning the wife's stove!

Well, I know the burners aren't cast iron, or I wouldn't have had to replace them already. I guess what I have to lose is caked on grease catching on fire and burning my house down?

But that brings up an interesting point. We do have a self cleaning oven and we have used the self cleaner in the past. We know from experience that it causes our smoke detectors to go off. So, we have to find the perfect day when it's nice outside so we can open the windows and stay outside for the duration of the cleaning cycle whlie the smoke alarms are going off. Problem is, we have a toddler that still takes an early afternoon nap, further complicating the equation. The oven hasn't been self-cleaned in several years...

Nothing like a piping hot bowl of Grill Stew on a damp, cool Spring day to warm a guy up!

The only thing that can come close is a bowl of Hot Dog broth.
