Is PS - Power Steering Fluid? This is highly recomended on the DieselEngineTrader website to avoid seized fuels pumps. A quart added to a tank. Would give me the Heebie Jeebies - Have you done this with good result? I'm running a Cummins A1700 normally aspirated.

Thanks, Will.

Oh.. they will probably come up with a decent scare tactic to cover that loophole too.

Thought I'd go to Kubota to get their take on the ULSD issue. Here's the reply I got:

"Please use the fuel and oil recommendations that is in your "Owners
Manual". Kubota doesn't recommend the use of Bio-diesel for a number of
reasons. See below.

In response to your inquiry to Kubota.

Kubota does not approve the use of Bio Diesel for the following reasons:

1. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and California Air Resources
Board (CARB) have approved our engines for only Number 2 Diesel fuel.

2. This Bio Diesel may cause cold weather starting and lowered horsepower
by at least 7%. Kubota will not authorize the adjustment of horsepower to
compensate.

3. Fuel consumption is expected to raise by approximately 15%.

4. Spilled fuel will cause the paint on the tractor to melt.

5. Rubber parts in the fuel system will deteriorate quickly causing service
to be required on this system at 1000 hours or 2 years

6. As we have not tested this application, we could not guarantee that it
would have no negative effect on the injection system. For this reason, we
would not approve warranty for failed injection system components."

7. The compounds in this fuel are more flammable than diesel fuel and
special attention to prevention of fires is required. This will require
extra care in handling."

Either they didn't understand the question, don't know the difference between Bio Diesel and ULSD, or don't want to take any stand that they fear may be legally binding, etc.

"Use the fuel and oil recommendations that is in the 'Owners Manual'"...well duhhh!

Hahaha...What did you expect? They've got 500 attorneys to make sure anything they say will not be held liable....for anything.

It is very very clear that they sure do not like Biodiesel in their fuel injection equipment or engines.....

Actually PS .. in my message anyway, stands for 'power service'.. a fuel addative.

However I have heard about power steering ( ATF fluid ) being added to diesel as a lube.. etc.

Considering a diesel is an oil burner anyway.. I'm imagining many types of oils could be added, in moderation.. with limited effects one way or the other. I hear some people burn straight cooking oil (cleaned / clarified)..

Even brake fluid has the same igintion temperature as #2 diesel, as does ethylene glycol......

Pouring used antifreeze, used brake fluid, used power steering fluid, used transmission fluid, used differential oil, used engine oil, used battery acid, fried chicken grease, french fry waste, used windshield wiper fluid, etc. into all your diesel fuel tanks are all outstanding environmentally friendly methods for recycling toxic wastes that will put a smile on your face.

Adding acetone, toulene, xylene, benzene, lauquer thinner, mineral spritis, cyclopropane, butanadiol, etc to your diesel fuel are all also great ways to recycle hazardous wastes too.

Who said used antifreeze, used brake fluid, used power steering fluid, used transmission fluid, used differential oil, used engine oil, used battery acid, used windshield wiper fluid, etc.

No one mentioned 'used' ...

Now for "fried chicken grease, french fry waste"

It's apparent there are lots of people using reclaimed cooking oil around the country..

Even so.. that issue wasn't addressed in the poswer steering / atf fluid post...

Didn't you imagine that many different types of oil (including both new and used) could be poured into an oil burner in moderation?

Nope.. No where in my post did I specifically state that many types of used oils could be poured in.

For clarification, for those that have nothing to do but debate minutia ... I was not refering to waste oils, except where noted.. ( used cooking oil )... Which I'm not advocating either.. just posting the comment.

Hey.. i just had a great thought... After this post i'll try it and see if it clears this thread up a little...
