clearing land

The going rate for a D7 with a root rake is $110/hr. I just had 16 acres cleared for $2530 for 23 hrs spread over 7 days. My pond with the dam taking 3200 cu yds of materiel, 150' of overflow pipe and various cleaning was only $10,000.

You'd never make 1.5 acres per hour around here with a D7 /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif We've got a lot of big stumps and they don't come out of the ground easily. It took a D6 dozer w/ stump splitter and a 270 excavator two days to stump, pile and burn about 6 acres just down the road from us.

Around here, $2,350 on 16 acres might get the logging slash piled for burning and burning would cost extra.

$20K for 10 acres is a reasonable estimate, and probably a little low, in my opinion, for heavy woods with lots of stumps.

I paid $20K for 10 acres of woods to get cleared about a year ago... best deal ever for me. Property value now far exceeds the expense of clearing, seeding, and fencing the 10 acres - there will be a very nice profit if/when we sell.
