I have pulled out trees the size you are talking about with my 4X4 truck. It will pull out a 5" tree without giving it gas, just let the clutch out slowly and pull it over. The bigger ones I then pulled form the other direction to break the root on both sides. The secret is to get a long chain (longer than the tree) and a ladder. Climb up the tree as high as you can reach and connect the chain. The higher the more leverage you have and the easer it is to pull over. Also the longer the chain the less weight transfer there is from your back wheels.
Your tractor should be able to out pull a pickup truck and with the long chain the tree can't reach you.
You will be surprised just how easy it is to pull a tree over with 20' of leverage
