Clementine at the doctor\'s

The tractor doctor, that is. My shiny girl was carted off to the dealer today for her 400 hour service and the backhoe and sub-frame installation. She won't be back till Friday...and till then I have this big empty garage bay to sulk in. /w3tcompact/icons/eyes.gif

On the other hand, I could spend time with my wife /w3tcompact/icons/love.gif since she was the one who gave me the backhoe!

I don't know Pete, it's kinda hard feeling sorry for anyone who's whining about a backhoe installation. Be sure to post some pics and stories when you get her back /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Yo Boondox;
You had me going for sure. Glad to hear its just a normal service trip AND adding a backhoe. WOW!!!!
I'll be real interested to see pics and hear how your gal Clementine handles the addition.
Congrats!

Pete -

I was all ready to send you a "get well" card for your tractor, but now I see it's more of a maternity visit. Congrats on your newly expected arrival.

Re: Clementine at the doctor\'s

Boondox you lucky guy. I have had my 2910 now for a few months and I have several projects I need a backhoe for. I know you have had Clementine for a while. What is the acceptable time to wait before one approaches the wife and asks for the backhoe without sleeping with the dogs? Ed

Re: Clementine at the doctor\'s

What did it for me was asking for her help digging up stones in the meadow (by hand) for use in a stone wall I'm building around the family graveyard. Meadow stones never give you an indication of their size, and I think she just got tired of shoveling dirt!

Sneaky, devious and underhanded, you think? So what's your point? /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif Besides, she'll be thrilled with the wall, the transplanted apple trees, the water supply to her garden so she no longer has to shlep water in buckets, etc.

Re: Clementine at the doctor\'s

Moon -- Hopefully the first pics I post won't be of me finding some long abandoned septic system! /w3tcompact/icons/shocked.gif In one year I put 280 hours on the old girl, and I'm more impressed with her abilities (or maybe I'm finally developing some skills) now than the wintry day she first showed up. I'm sure it'll take me some time to perfect my hoeing skills, but I'm taking the last week of this month off just to play, er, practice.

Re: Clementine at the doctor\'s

I know just what you mean Pete. I was "practicing" with my FEL last Friday. Learning how to fix up the very rutted and muddy parts of the road to my back 40. All was going fine. I had done 3 problem areas and was making a trench with the Loader and went a little to far. Wifey Poo had come back on the ATV to see the 3010 in action. I dug in for a scoop and WHOOSH! Hi presure sound of something letting loose. I thought i had busted something on the tractor. Nope. I had cut into my 1" gas supply line. Duh!!!!!! I knew it was there, but plum forgot about it. And worst of all, wifey had to witness it. Scared the heck out of both of us. I didn't take a photo essay like harv did of his project went awry - but my early evening project turned into alot of hustling about first turning off the gas supply to the house. It was just afer 5 oclock so off to Lowes for the fitting. Course they don't carry gas fittings like that. So, I had to wait til Sat morning. Off to the one supply house that does carry the fitting, and now they've started closing on Sat. Things just weren't going right. I finally found a place with the a 1" connector. Get it home and wifey notices that the fitting says for cold water use only ....in small print. I sure couldn't read it but I told the guy what it was for. Suppose he just didn't know. Anyhow, i used that part to patch the gas for the weekend and today (Monday) I got the appropriate fitting for a outside gas line. I know the water fitting is not ok'd for gas because over time the gasket corrodes and you'll have a gas leak. So i felt okay patching it for weekend use only.
So, good luck with your back hoe practice; sure hope it goes better than mine did.
Moon

PS. I've got another 1 1/2 hour of seat time since the "incident" so I feel better about it now. And i'm going to label the gas line so i don't forget about it again!!!!!
