Hello all,

This is my first of many posts on this forum. I recently (last night) purchased a 2009 GC2400 with 68 hours and have a couple of questions on it. Please bear with me as these are "newbie" questions. First off, I love this tractor, went back and forth between green, orange, and red.

I'm assuming this is normal but what is the clicking sound when you turn the key to the "ON" position before starting? It sounds like a solenoid or relay of sorts. How does the injection pump work on this, I'm assuming it's manual (belt, gear or chain driven). How long should I warm this up for on cold days (around 30 degrees)?

I'm sure if I had the operators manual it would answer most of these questions for me but I have not ordered it as of yet. Any insight is much appreciated.

there will be a click for the fuel solenoid and glow plugs. Welcome to TBN.

OK, this is a constant clicking sound, and before I initiate the glow plugs by holding the key at 2/4 turn just before starting. Definitely sounds like it's coming from behind the gauges on the dash.

You can actually hear it in this video:

Once started does it go away/?

Is it a single click, or a buzzing sound? If its a buzzing sound, the BX2660 has an electric fuel pump that runs as long as the key is on.

I'm not positive if the sound goes away once the machine is running as the engine noise takes over. Yes it is a buzzing sound (I guess that better describes it). It's the exact sound as heard in the cold start video I posted a link to. Is there an electric fuel pump that feeds the mechanical injector pump or is it all electric?

On our BX, there is an electrical pre-pump that feeds the mechanical injection pump. It sounds just like the noise in your video.

Thank you all - After going back to the garage I realize that my original post is a bit misleading as far as location of the noise. It's actually coming from below where your left foot would go while riding. This is the location of the fuel filter as well, this must be the pre-pump. Thank you so much, this is an excellent community with very fast responses and knowledgeable replies.

gfuller, you get around! Yep, that's an electric fuel pump. My old 2310 does the same thing. First time I heard it, I panicked-- sounded like a "low battery/solenoid clicking" sound…. but it wasn't. (In my case, the no-start was caused by a broken ground cable.) Of course, when the engine's running, you don't even notice it. irvingj

Well I'm very curious and like to dive right into these things :)

That's exactly what it sounds like! I also noticed that at 1/2 tank of fuel you can actually hear the fuel recirculate and drip in the fuel tank on the left side of the seat. Interesting stuff! I've noticed these little Iseki engines not necessarily start hard but if you don't give them a little throttle when it's freezing out, they sound like they are going to blow up or rattle the tractor apart for the first 10 seconds.
