Hi, I have to have my foot off the clutch pedal before it engages on my ford 5200. Have been using it on my new Holland 644 baler and I wonder if that is too much work for it? is it expensive to fix the clutch?

Mechanical clutches have some adjustment as the friction surface wears. If the clutch cannot be adjusted to give the proper pedal travel, it may be worn out.

I guess I should have asked; Does the clutch operate fine in other conditions? Is it just the baler that causes this?

I just noticed it baling yesterday and its still attached to the baler for one more day tomorrow. hopefully it will last.
I did notice the clutch pedal needed to be 3/4 or more released before engaging the last few weeks. is there some way to adjust something on the pedal that could help for tomorrow?

If the clutch disengages when you push the pedal down, and pulls a load without slipping, I agree that the clutch linkage is out of adjustment. Checking and adjusting clutch pedal travel is part of routine maintenance. It should be checked at every oil change.

thanks ill have a look for something to adjust. not sure where to look but it must be close to the pedal I am thinking.

The rod to adjust is under the floor board on the left side of the tractor. It's connected to the pedal by a clevis that can be adjusted. It has a jamb nut on it to keep it from vibrating and coming out of adjustment.

thanks for help
I adjusted rod under left foot about 1/2 inch or bit more. it then seemed to engage just before releasing pedal. managed to get 10ish bales done before the tractor would conk out when engaging pto, so I unhooked. it still seems to drive without being hooked up to baler so i will see if I can use the front bucket to load some bales on the trailer to get them out of the field.
hoping a neighbor can finish off for me today.
