And in this case - unless it was a defective bearing from the git go - I'm unsure why he even wanted to change it. I assumed pulling that bearing seat simply to replace a rotten gasket.

I'd be curious to know why the bearing (New Departure) was changed in the first place? Were there other issues that led up to that? Hmm :confused3:

That New Departure Bearing feels like its blown out. Its $30 for a replacement one from Napa. I'm just about to go pick it up and hopefully its an exact match. This project is taking much longer than expected as I can only peck at it for less than 2hrs a day before having to go to work.

Do you guys think that while its just sitting there split I should go ahead and flush it with kerosene or diesel? (i.e. Fill, drain, filter the nasties out and then repeat) Or should I just wait until everything is back together and then do the flush process with the bucket all the way up?

Putting the bucket up will not help you. These tractor do not share a common sump for the gearbox and hydraulics. It has a seperate reservoir for each.

I would flush it all I could now and maybe again later after back together.

Concur. Assuming it's never been done, flushing candidates include
gears - front diff/mid-connect/tranny/rear diff
hydraulics - rear lift/steering/loader
engine/injection pump
cooling system

I just had a friend bring this up - so big deal that I'm replacing the input shaft seal. That hopefully was the issue as there is no argument that the oily emulsion that caused all this came from the trans. But where is the oil seal that keeps oil leaking in from the PTO shaft???

I just looked at a parts diagram and I can't find anything. Has anyone found a leak coming from the PTO shaft? If that was the original cause of the failure, I could see why. It would be dumping fluid/oil directly into the clutch assembly.

Ahh, I just removed the o-rings.

Tommy, the input shaft oil seal shows "35 x 55 x 12" in the parts catalog. I noticed that the seal Affordable shipped me is labeled, "35 x 56 x 12". I'm having great difficulty installing this seal. Was I shipped the incorrect seal or am I installing it wrong?

I'm not sure on the seal ? I'm not at the shop,I can confirm it on Monday,I would think it would be whats called out in the parts book unless there was some type of change ,sorry to make you wait if the wrong one was sent we will get the correct one right out. Call the shop 979-865-4002 8 am -5pm talk to Jerry,he should be able to confirm the size
