JD870 went to use it today clutch appears to be stuck, has no effect when pushed in, if start in gear it moves but can't stop with clutch. I put the loader against a tree in attempt to break it loose, no luck.
Last time I used it about about a week ago worked fine. Has this been reported as a problem on this forum before? Any ideas?.

the old 950's and 850's had that problem. They rust together. The fix was if you could get them unstuck . You would put a peice of wood between the pedal and the platform to keep the clutch from seating while your not using it.

Your Deere mechanic may have some simple procedure that will work for you.

Was it setting very long to cause the problem?

I personnaly would try getting it running in a high gear and use the brakes to try to break it loose, with the clutch in while braking (using safe procedure with brake pedals locked for equal braking of the rear wheels). Might work in a lower gear as well too. Might not work at all. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

alot of times the tree trick works but make sure it's in high gear when you try. puts more pressure in clutch. same principle of why clutches slip in high gear but not low when they start going bad.

That worked!, high gear, high range braking one side at a time popped it loose. It's sitting out in the shed with a 2X4 block holding the clutch disengaged now. Thanks guys!
