CNH Capital problems AGAIN (A Warning to All)

Just for the record, the total amount has been refunded, not by Bargainland, but by Paypal!
I called them to ask for their advise and they cheerfully refunded the total balance due. I asked the guy if Bargainland would be charged for it, and he said Paypal would eat this one.

Well, my first payment to CNH was due last month, and because of this thread I was prepared/expecting a problem. Needless to say, a week after the payment due date I received a call from them. We use BillPay through our CU, and so we checked on it. BillPay inidicated it was paid on the due date. Called CNH back, and they "found it". They showed it as being received and posting 10 days after the due date. It was explained that since their mail goes to a "lock box", it is normal to expect a 7-10 day delay in receipt of the payment. We were advised by CNH to send the payment in 7-10 days early, due to the "lock box" issue. Ha! I called the CU's BillPay rep, and he said the payment was received by CNH on the due date. Apparently some compaines don't like dealing with BillPay, and so it is common for those compainies to introduce delays. Food for thought. At least because of this thread we were expecting it. Thanks everyone. BTW, apparently CNH has a 10 day "grace period" due to the "lock box delay"......so we weren't considered late.....

Lock box or not, they have your money and are using it to make more money.
Tell them to unlock the durn thing, cause your not going to give them it any earlier, because that isn't what the contract says.

I just got a call from NH and they said I was late. However, we were actual a payment ahead and they said that their mail has been slow.

Who is doing their processing and collections? Are they trying to justify their existance?

Being a computer nerd (and co-owning an IT shop) I HATE anything that involves snail mail. CNH should get the flippin stick and get an online system set up to except payments. Then, as soon as your payment posts to their system and they give you a conformation number it's all on them. I set up to have the funds automatically taken out of my checking account with CNH, so, we'll see if that gets messed up. But when I talked to the lady at CNH, setting up the auto-payment, I asked when we'll see some online payment web site and she was like.... "...duh... ummm, maybe by 2008..." riiiight we'll see about that one... I'm a BIG believer in making things easy and reliable for people, having to worry about your check getting to CNH on time, or them forgetting to open the envelope, or some one loosing the key to the lock box is just straight up ridiculous... ohs well... I think it's past my bed time...

I think that's the problem here - CNH does seem to EXCEPT the payments. They need to learn how to ACCEPT our payments. :D

Anyway, I'm glad June will be my last payment to CNH. :)

A couple months ago I recieved a call from CNH Capital stating I was late on a payment. I made 2 payments that month and they applied the 2nd as principal even though a payment coupon was sent with the payment. They called today stating I was late again by almost 30 days. 31th day they report it to the credit bureau. I made two payment last month and they were both logged as principal even though the payment coupons were with each payment and no entry was made on the coupons by me to have it go towards principal. The gal from CNH was unwilling to convert them back to a monthly payment and said if I didn't make a payment today it will be reported to the credit bureau. Should be pretty easy to guess what I had to say about that. LOL I then asked to speak with a supervisor. The supervisor was very helpful and apologized for the errors and made to correction to my account. I then told him I WILL NOT tolerate another rude phone call such as I recieved today and if CNH does this again I will file a complaint with our state AG's office. I then went on to tell him if they ever put a mark on my credit because of their screwed up accounting system I will file a suit against CNH.

My point for this thread is to warn others that if they are making extra payments to CNH to make sure that they are being applied correctly.

this is the reason i deal with my personal local bank when making farm related purchases instead of using dealer credit. the people at the bank know me by name and would call me immediatley if something like this happened and would have gotten it straight the FIRST time. thats why when i see post about JD, Kubota, NH financing i dont get all googley eyed because i wouldnt be buying it through them anyways in fear of this. im not saying this would never happen with my bank, but after the first time it would have been straightened out and would not have happened again. i wish you good luck in the future and i guess you gave me one more reason to not take a look at NH.

1. This thread is about CNH Capital, not their tractors.
2. There are LOTS of people who borrowed from CNH and had NO problems, ever, with payments. I'm one of them. From the first payment until I paid the loan off early, I had ZERO issues.

If you'd not consider NH because of one thread on TBN by one person who had problems......

Only problem I had with CNH Capital........it took them 6-8 weeks to send me my pay-off letter. That's such a nice feeling :D

On the two tractors that I bought through New Holland Credit I had no problems. Everything went like clock work.

Murph, I hope you are right. I just received my first bill and my payment will be in the mail tomorrow. Did you ever try to use Online Bill pay? Seems like this could be the issue. I wrote a check this first time but would like to switch to online bill pay soon. Stamps are getting expensive!

the company's immage reflects the tractors overall image. im not buying a tractor that its going to be a hassle every month to pay for. from what i understand, several people have experienced issues with CNH payment downfalls not just one. read back through the thread and you will see. i belive they dont even have a way to pay online like most other major companies of today do. would make things alot easier as snail mail is slowly becoming redicoulous to send($$$$).

"I believe" are the operative words. You don't "know".

It is interesting that people who own others company's tractors, and who don't have any first hand experience with an issue, will summarize and conclude based upon scant evidence.

There was clearly an issue, but whether the systematic issue has been worked out has not been determined. I have a large family who has purchased several items through cnh, and have been happy with the service. I have asked.

I don't have time to question whether cnh has online bill paying capability, but to make such a statement, one ought to have direct proof. Anything else is just making up brand bashing for the sake of your tractor comapny. I don't have the time or interest to look it up.

It is good to know that there is a creditor in this country who has handled its creditees perfectly, everytime. That is what you are implying about your company with your "information".

My FIL has devices from the perfect one. The company, and the devices, are not nearly perfect.

Oh come on, 37 cents once a month is going to be a deal breaker? Jeez.

There are some bills I will not pay via online banking, and I've been using online banking since Managing Your Money came out well over 10 years ago. I also used CheckFree when it first came out. Car payments, tractor payments are 2 examples. Nor will I allow companies to automatically pull money out of my checking account unless it's a local company, e.g., my credit union, where I can go visit them if there are issues.

Any company can have payment problems. As I, and others have stated, I never had a problem sending in the coupon and a check. And to decide on a tractor based on whether their finance arm offer online payment is ridiculous. You'll use a tractor for a lot more years than you'll pay for it.

In 1999, I financed a B2710 with Kubota Credit and as of 2002 they still did not have online payment ability; still had to mail a check every month. That certainly wasn't a deal breaker, but it was a bit of an annoyance. I almost never write a check anymore. In fact, I've written exactly two checks this year, each of which was to the county tax collector to renew the registration on our minivan and pickup:)

I will toss my experience in here. I started out with New Holland Credit, then bought another item thru Case Credit and another item via CNH Credit. Now they are all merged under CNH Credit. Even with the different company names and such and the different accounts being merged I have never had a problem. I can honestly say the people I deal with at CNH credit are some of the best people I have ever dealt with as far as credit companies go. They are friendly and are very helpful. I have not met any rude people so far and do not expect to as my accounts are handled by two people and only two people so I know who I am calling if I have a question.CNH Capital does have an online payment option but I do not know if CNH Credit does yet.
I forgot to add, when I bought the TN I financed thru New Holland credit and paid it off without any problem so I have had 4 different dealings with CNH credit with no problems as of yet.

I just bought my NH and have yet to make my first payment. Is it possible to just call them and give a debit card # over the phone? They could then give you an authorization# and the payment would always be on time. Right now the only 2 bills I have I don't pay online is trash pickup and propane delivery (because they do not have the option) I had a mortgage w/ WAMU at one time and they were notorious for applying payments late, f'd up my credit a few years back.

Chris

you are correct, i don't know firsthand of CNH payment procedures. i was just reading the same post as many others read on this topic. was it the only reason i decided to not consider CNH in my next tractor purchase? certainley not. but it is one factor i have considered long before that post was ever written. ive talked to several fellow farmers in my area and there are some that own NH and are happy with them and then there are some that are not. this is the case with ALL owners of every brand, not just NH. i also was clearly not favoring the brand of tractor i own over anyone elses. i own a John Deere but its not superior to any other make. ive also never bashed the NH line, they are good tractors. no creditor is perfect.
