Today the Mrs. and I drove to a large multi cultural farmers market and I had a cup of the best coffee I have ever had in my life ...It was Decaffeinated Colombian Coffee..all I can say is it made me into a convert...We usually drink Maxwell House Decaf....what a difference...Probably too expensive to drink all day but we will be drinking it in the morning for the first cup..I guess we just always stuck to what we were used to.

We have tried Starbucks but to us it always tasted like burnt coffee...this was really full bodied and good ...the after taste made it addictive...Just passing it on in case anyone else is in the dark as much as we obviously were as far as the coffee choices out there...but we do live in the country...

Hummm. Colombian you say. Perhaps it is addictive. Perhaps there is some "special" ingredient in the coffee.

You may be joking but I would agree with you...I wish I could give you a cup..the aftertaste lingered and made me want more...and I am not a huge coffee drinker and for sure not an expert on coffee by any means...I was amazed...

The coffee making equipment really makes a difference in the taste of coffee.

On one vacation I took my coffee and sugar because the room had a coffee maker. The coffee was not that good. We always carry quite a bit of water when we travel in case we have a problem with the car on the trip. Been There Done That. So made coffee with my usual brand, sugar AND water in the hotel coffee maker. Not much improvement.

I know take my coffee maker. :D

Bizarre Foods just had an episode that featured a $20,000 coffee maker. They could play with the pressure and time of pressurization used to make the coffee. They could also control the water temperature that I know is very important and most likely why I did not like the coffee made in the hotel room with their coffee maker.

They made several cups of coffee, with the same coffee, but they varied the pressure and time under pressure. Each cup was different tasting. They said they could get even more variation if they changed the water temperature.

If I won the lottery I would pay off bills, buy more land and tractor tools. I would also buy that coffee maker. :D

Later,
Dan

Dan, that must be it...and makes perfect sense....we have tried other coffees at home and never had that result but we just have Mr. Coffee type coffee maker so when I win the lottery I will PM you to find out the name of that machine and I will buy one for both of us...:)

We tried an $80 Cuisinart coffee maker; first one was replaced under warranty, and I threw the second one in the garbage after its warranty expired. We now use a less than $20 Black & Decker coffee maker that works at least as well, if not better. And we use cheap coffee, Master Chef, from Walmart. It's as good as most coffee I've drank elsewhere, but if I ever find out what coffee and coffee maker were on the old Braniff Airlines planes, I'll pay extra for it; best tasting coffee I ever drank.

I only drink coffee occasionally. My Wife drinks one cup in the mornings. She drinks Maxwell House International Latte Vanilla Caramel. She absolutely loves that coffee. I drink green tea.

Yep, Brin found his "fix"

Brin did you ask them what or where to get it , so us "coffeeholics" can give it a spin? I mean shooot brother:confused:

We usually buy the card box tasting cr@p at the grocery store, Max house, folgers, best canned coffee without the high price has been Don Pedro's. if you can find it.

We also like the Starbucks for an enhanced taste, but you can't beat a coffee house at times.

What blows my mind is the cost of the junk they sell these day's, near $16 for a can of decaf!!

She drinks Maxwell House International Latte Vanilla Caramel.

I think the more words in the name, the further away from real coffee it gets. I like Folgers black. I'm very partial to my thermal carafe coffee maker.:D

Generalizing Starbucks like that is hard; they have a whole bunch of different coffees. Same with other coffee companies. Maybe it was the roast style you tried? I have had a couple like that, usually darker roasts.
