Coffee ...Wow !

I LOVE coffee. I drink almost a pot a day.

I make my own blend, typically 95% french roast and the rest vanilla and I grind it to espresso level.

I have the $80 cuisinart stainless steel coffee maker that Bird threw out, and I love it. Never had an issue. I change the charcoal filter every 100 pots or so, and I use cold well water, I set the heat to the highest setting, and I also add grass fed cow's half-n-half from a little amish dairy in penn.

Makes me wish it was morning!

Same here. Wife calls my coffee 'thick'. Yet it's her 'first' cup every morn. After that she drinks her tea looking stuff.

I remember going to Houston years ago and asking for a cup of coffee and chicory which is what I normally drink. I got a blank stare from the waiter. I ended up with half the wait staff at my table trying to figure out what I was asking for. Finally, a manager said "Oh, that's that Cajun coffee, we don't have that".
I usually buy a local mix called "French Market".
When we were young, mom had a two part coffee maker that sat on the stove. the top section held the coffee in a cloth filter bag and the bottom was the resevar. She would boil the water and slowly pour it into the top and let it drip into the bottom. You could stand the spoon up in the coffee cup it was so strong.

I'm addicted to coffee in the morning, you know it's an addiction when that's all you can think about coming down the stairs. Even in the morning, just 2 cups otherwise I will be jittery for a couple hours. Coffee withdrawal is not pretty either.

But if I drink coffee anytime after supper, I'll be up till 2 in the morning for sure. We have a mega grocery store that has a huge selection of coffee beans in bins. Oh man I just open those covers and the smells are so good I :drool:

The only way you can really tell how good the coffee is is to drink it black with no condiments. How can you tell the difference when you dump in 4 spoons of sugar and a half cup of milk. I have drank black coffee all my life and the one coffee I hate is Hortons which all the yuppies love. I actually like Mcdonalds and wilson farms house blend..

Decaf ?,,,, that ain't coffee. Real coffee has CAFFEINE.

I'll drink decaf when I want the taste but need to sleep soon, working nights so long has realy twisted my routine:laughing:

Black is they way I drink it, if a quarter will bounce off it and it isn't burnt, I'm good to go. My wife on the other hands, drinks hers with so much 1/2&1/2 in it, it looks like weak Chocolate milk! Hardly worth the effort.

I personally am not much of a coffee person. My older brother, is a heavy coffee drinker - and swears by his Bunn maker.

I don't know if this is his exact model, but he spent quite a bit on it several years ago - and swears the Bunn can make cheap grounds taste great.

We have a Mr Coffee for those times we serve coffee...and my brother says it makes a terrible cup compared to his maker.

We usually buy the card box tasting cr@p at the grocery store, Max house, folgers, best canned coffee without the high price has been Don Pedro's. if you can find it.

We also like the Starbucks for an enhanced taste, but you can't beat a coffee house at times.

What blows my mind is the cost of the junk they sell these day's, near $16 for a can of decaf!!

Yep, Western it was a fix ...that was the best cup of coffee I ever had...full bodied without being burnt or strong and an after taste that lasted and made me want more.

Dan, that must be it...and makes perfect sense....we have tried other coffees at home and never had that result but we just have Mr. Coffee type coffee maker so when I win the lottery I will PM you to find out the name of that machine and I will buy one for both of us...:thumbsup:
