Thanks to all for the suggestions.
Mid-Texas winters can be Cold or cold depending on El Nino patterns. It seems with every cold front that passes by we get a couple of days of freezing temp then back to 40 -60;s or so. This coming winter is supposed to be one of the Cold ones.

Question? I recently acquired a 20 year old 5670 A Agco Allis with a deutz engine. I bought a magnetic heater but can not locate a good place to locate it. The bottom of the oil pan is protected by a second plate that has an air gap between the two so I can not get heat to the bottom of the oil. The sides of the oil pan are ribbed. The magnetic heater will attach but it looks like most of the heat is lost into the air. I can attach it higher up the engine block but I don't think that will get much heat to the oil resevoir. Is there a sweet spot for locating the magnetic heater?

This tractor was originally fitted with a manifold heater that does not appear to work. Are these effective?

The tractor right now is starting at temperatures just below freezing but I am looking for a solution that will work at minus 10-12 Centigrade (14-11 degrees F).

Magnetic heaters help. I added glow plugs to mine (really just heats the air). They helped it start cleaner. The tractor without the glow plugs starts at 20 F (not pretty but it starts) where my previous diesel tractors would not.

Here's a link to the install:

The ultimate solution to my problem was to get a larger battery & then no more problem. Seems the factory supplied battery was minimal at best.
With this solution I've not had any problem on cold days

What was the size of the original battery and what size did you replace it with?
