Boy, that sure sounds like a fuel line freeze up, I use the diesel conditioner in the white bottle all year 'round, 3 ounce per five gallons. Keeping the tank full is good advice, too.

Yes, it does lead me to believe the line may have froze up. I also use a bottle of conditioner that I purchased at the dealer and I believe that's the ratio I use (I wrote it on the bottle). The funny thing is I replaced the fuel filter in late October when the weather was still warm so I believe that should not be the problem. I always top off the fuel in all of my equipment before calling it a day so it's ready to go the next time I use them. The same holds true for the tractor. This is why I am so puzzled about the problem.

On another note, when I started the tractor a few times this winter I never plugged in the block heater. I simply gave the plugs between 30 sec and 1 minute then turned it over. Every time a blue puff of smoke would blow out the exhaust. When I did plug in the block heater the last time the tractor started right up but no puff of blue smoke.

On a positive note, because of this problem I went out and ran it again today without a problem. I'll test her again next weekend... unless we finally get some real snow here before then.
