When checking over the tractor just after removing the loader I noticed the fluid on the hose coupling looked a little cloudy, in checking the dip stick I noticed its a pinkish fluid but its not a good clear pink---its cloudy as if it may have moisture in it. Could this be the result of 5 years of condsenation? If so is there possibly a synthetic fluid I should consider replacing it with?
Thanks
Dan

Sure sounds like water in the hydraulic fluid. I never thought of hydraulic fluid being hydroscopic...but one can get water in oil (engine type) and be frothy.

Probably a good time to flush out your system and renew the fluid.

Don't know your storage or useage conditions, but five years is too long for HST tranny oil to be un-changed. If it's red or pink, it's probably still the oil that was in there when it left the dealership.

Smacks of water, and possibly anti-freeze. Not sure if there is a potential for antifreeze getting in the fluid, but either that (any loss of antifreeze?) or someone mistakenly put antifreeze in instead of hyd. fluid.

WOW 5 YEARS? /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif
Like Pete said, the red fluid is used at the factory on the Yanmar produced tractors, so you probably have the origanal fluid in there.
How many hours are on this machine?
I would change that fluid and hydro filter ASAP, I use the JD branded fluid in mine, so cannot comment on a synthetic product

184 hours---Almost has to be water, antifreeze is nowhere near the hyd. fluid.
