Oh yea, the Personell Lift cage cannot really fit onto the Base Frame unit untill the grapple is removed. That's why there is no photo of it altogether. To remove the grapple arm from the Base, it is three 1/2" bolts with nylocks. I suppose it will take five minutes to remove the grapple. That will be the least-used part of the total set of attachments I suppose. The Personell Lift will probably be the most used. The cage floor sets about 16 inches high off the ground with the loader lowered to the ground. So the little 4100 loader will lift just 6 feet, plus 16 inches, plus my normal reach of 8', gets me darn close to 16 feet reach while standing in the cage. In the last post, the attachment photo also shows the curved tubing low in the back, I call that part the kickstand. It holds the cage in a level attitude when its setting on the floor, so you can drive into it with the base frame, and insert the bolts. Later when we have an action shot doing something constructive in the cage, I will add another photo.

I for one, am speachless, and what I could have thought of to say, Harv already did. Ditto Harv !!
I thought I had a great deal going with my new JD GREEN ballast box and I had to buy that. After seeing the workmanship in your handcrafted attachments I think I will go hang my head in shame. The most I can do with my welder (actually my Dads) is plug it in and turn it on.
Excellant work, my compliments.

Thanks for the compliments guys, I appreciate that.

Here's a look of the grapple in action, cleaning up damage from our last ice storm. Its fun to use.

A very impressive collection of attachments Jim, and most impressive is your fabricating abilities. Do you do work for hire? Can't wait to see action shots of your barn project /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Sorry this off topic but it is relavent. I couldn't view any of the attachments. Each time I clicked on the attachment I got an outline the size of a picture with a small red X in a small box in the upper left hand corner of the picture frame. This happens on some attachments but not on others. Anyone have any idea what is going on? I'm using the Windows Millinium on a Dell laptop. I've tried right clicking and trying to get info. from "properties" but get nothing. ANY info would be appreciated. I really want to see these attachments! TIA Micromike

Very nicely done Jim. I am currently working on a set of pallate forks, but I dought they will look as good as your attachments. You are a true craftsman. I will post photos of mine as soon as I complete them.

My projects are built from sketches on paper, based on concepts of things I see or combined from other people's ideas. I usually try to sketch the overall plan, and fill in the details I can predict, then proceed to start. Once underway in the shop, the sketches drive the general direction but, actual fit to the existing machine, slight deviation to bias for material on-hand, idea-evolvement, and overcoming problems are some of the things that steer the final design. Sometimes I can only plan the concept and must determine experimentally the details. Like the grapple bellcrank. I drilled one hole for the hydraulic cylinder attachment, then another for a slight change. After looking at all the factors, I drilled as many as I could to allow several choices in stroke-length, open and closed posistion, total pressure vs swing range, etc. Some of this stuff you can predict, but until you use it you don't know what you need. After you do a few things, your knowledge base builds up and your projects keep getting better and better. I do try to consider personal safety in all projects, but there are usually no concerns if you have a little mechanical awareness. If in doubt, I always get more opinions. It is amazing how even someone not directly aware of the details of some of these things can come with some real thought-provoking questions. Someone once said "the way to get really good ideas is to start with a lot of ideas". That's what this TBN is so good at.
I find steel to be a very forgiving material. When I change the design, I cut it off, weld on some more, whatever, to change it. Compare this with woodworking where you basically have to hit it right the first time or start again. Its rare that the main project is not salvagable even with a major change. Just don't paint it 'till you try it out once or twice. There's nothing more depressing than torching through a nice paintjob. Have at it...

When you see the box with the red X in it, I always do a right click then click on SHOW PICTURE, not PROPERTIES. The picture then appears. Have you tried this ?
