Yes, we have Comcast; both Internet and TV. We've had both good and bad experiences with them. I can't say I'm favorably impressed, but don't know that they're any worse than other cable companies.

How long did you have cable Internet through Comcast? Sometimes they offer a low introductory price for a few months with the requirement you stay signed up for, and pay for, a year (maybe more - don't know about Comcast). Before you call, visit the Comcast web site and make sure you have not violated your agreement with them.

I have been using Comcast for about 4 years now -- It's great. I always pay my bills, so they have not shut me off.

Not sure what this means, but if you didn't use it for 2 months, doesn't mean you don't get billed. If you were having connection problems, you need to call them.

Well, it's after 7 but I'll throw in my experience. I've had Comcast for my TV since they bought out the old provider (Suburban)several years ago. Apparently, they are doing that all over the country. Occasionally, the cable would go out, maybe a total of 10 hrs. in a year. Over the past couple of years, it's been a lot more reliable.
I got the internet access through Comcast about two years ago. I had some issues with the reliablilty over the first couple of months. Spent several hours with tech support. They told me I had a weak signal. Tech came out an said my signal was fine. Turned out to be a bad RCA cable modem. Installed a Motorola (Surfboard?) and it's been 100% since.

Now, my wireless card is acting up. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Anyway, in regards to your question, Comcast usually makes offers for "three months at $x" such as internet access or digital cable. Maybe they are billing you for the three months.

Good Luck!

alright lets see. i had comcast for 2 years, so it has nothing to do with introductory offers. comcast went off line in my area for 2months. there was a problem with and underground cable. for work (at the time) i could not be without internet so i switched to verizon dsl, and canceled comcast. i pay my bills, but did not realize they were still charging me for internet. mostely due to talking 4 young ladies over the past six months who assured me that cable had been dropped.

and yes it is after 7, and it is not resolved because the young lady that i am working with is not in yet today.

Did they supply you with the cable modem, and have you returned the modem? I have Adelphia broadband, and they don't consider the account cancelled until the modem has been returned. My son had a problem with Adelphia continuing to bill him. He resolved it when he was able to show them the receipt for bringing back the modem.

kokopelli2,

Like others have said, there are all kinds of ins and outs to Comcast and other cable services.

We have had Comcast for several years without a problem. They just told me they are raising my rates by $5 a month, becuase I only have Internet and no TV cable services.???

Anyway, all of these digital monthly services are tricky to "get out of." They have special ruels and clauses.

I suggest you visit this forum Comcast Discussion . Do a search for "billing" or "cancel" and you may get some specific info how to extricate yourself from the billing monster. Good luck!

My cable provider, CableOne, charges me $10 extra per month for my cable internet because I don't have cable TV. I have DirecTV for my television viewing pleasure.

Have you tried hooking up a TV to your internet line? If your system works like Adelphia's, you'll have TV. I found that out when I ordered broadband cable internet for my former business location. They charged a premium for the internet service because it was a commercial address, but I didn't order TV. At home, I pay roughly $100/month (including all taxes) for digital TV and high speed internet, and each of them is roughly half. At the commercial address, I paid $70 just for internet, but no TV.

When I got the service turned on, it didn't work. I called their support line. The tech guy asked me if the TV was working. I told him I didn't have TV. He said it didn't matter, because there was no way they could turn on the internet without turning on the TV, also. I tried it, and sure enough, it worked. It was limited to basic cable -- no digital and no premium channels, because I didn't have a descrambler box, but it was still cheaper than paying for both internet and basic cable. I hooked up a portable TV and used it until I closed the business and moved my office back home.
