The 214 I picked up as a winter project is coming back together. It needed a fuel line and pump, a good cleaning and some jury rigging set right. While I was at it a 10 foot paint job seemed in order. This will be a working machine so no show quality restoration needed. I still have to sort out a problem with the deck lift mechanism, but the running and driving is all sorted out. IMG_20190413_152745052.jpg

Looking good.. hopefully you used JD green paint, and not a "wannabe" non-Deere green.

Picked up a nice looking JD 110 round fender a couple years ago.. looked great.. but since then the non-Deere paint has turned bluish in color. Pretty disappointing to say the least. Will have to re-paint it now.
I asked about the paint used, and was told it was not painted.. original. But have since found out different.. and can see some overspray in a couple spots. My fault for not being a better detective when buying.
There is no substitute for Deere paint.. IMO

Quality, old IRON. Those wheels are BIGGER than many SCUT TLBs!

It was a licensed product so I'm hoping it holds it's color. The factory paint was down to the point of thin to none. At least now it won't rust.

Indeed! Solid as a rock. They built those 200's to last. I wanted something I could use on rougher ground without worrying about beating it to death.

I also have a 214, real fun machine to operate and pretty easy to repair.

I've gotten a chance to use it some over the last couple of weeks. It's going to prove to be a good addition to the collection. At the moment I'm fighting a carburetor problem, but I suppose you have to expect some complications when resurrecting something from the dead. Overall, for a $300 winter project I'm pretty happy with it. There should be quite a few years of faithful service left in it.

I'm trying to resist the urge to pick up an older 100 series to go with it. Ha!
