A one or two ton truck is not capable of safely towing 35,000 lbs. No way, too little chassis weight nor stamina.

My 2017 F-450 is rated to tow 32,500. One wouldn’t think it is too much of a stretch for a 5500 or 6500 to tow 2,500 lbs more.

Dodge and Ford one ton dually pick ups are slightly over 30,000 lbs these days. Chevy I don’t think have released any numbers on theirs. So 35,000 is not far off, just wait a year or two and one tons can tow it.

I would not want such a truck near me on the road. Wait until a brake line blows or the lug studs snap off. That kind of weight needs a large 6 wheel dump truck.

285/70/19.5痴 are rated for 6395 single and 6005 dual. That is a pontential of 36,000 which is way more than the GVWR range of these trucks.

A 2 ton is fully capable of doing that. I'll have to agree with the ridiculous tow rating on pickups these days. Have you looked at how much heavier the older 4500s or bigger are than a pickup? Most were conservatively rated at 25000 pounds just under the cdl range.

MY one ton HAS 6 wheels and the wheel studs are 5/8" studs with nuts that take a 1-1/8" socket...there's 8 on each corner... That's a lot of steel on each corner...

Always a fan here due to the tilt hood but per the article I read yesterday, GM is way short on the weight ratings vs the Ford offering. I would have to dig a bit to find that article but the rating difference was substantial.

I agree that the weight ratings are pretty sad. There must be some law they're trying to avoid keeping it that low.

My 6500 that's that's supposedly not capable of towing 35000 had 6 wheels with 8 22mm studs. I don't remember the tire size but it's something in between the 19.5s and real truck tires. The 16" wheels are the weak link of my old F-450. 19.5s are a big step in the right direction.

Don't even get me started on 19.5 tires...

I guess they're so terrible it's why nearly all light medium duty trucks use them.
