Commercial walk behind mower for cutting light brush?

I've been using my CUT w/FEL+bush hog to open up trails and clear open areas at our weekend property of 18 acres. I am thinking about purchasing a used commercial walk behind mower to cut the grassy areas around the cabin and the future drain field. It would be nice to use the same mower to help maintain trails and other areas where I can't take the tractor. I can't really afford to purchase a walk behind brush mower right now. I have a good grass trimmer that I can put a blade on and a chain saw that I could use initially on the bigger stuff. I have a lot of blackberry bushes that I need to get under control.

Why don't you just go with your first instinct. Buy the commercial grade walk behind mower......fire it up and start mowing. I will bet you that after a little bit of mowing you will know how slow to go, and how big of a branch you can run your mower over. Blackberry bushes, and other such stuff....well just start into them and adjust your speed.

Honestly, as you have seen, you will get every suggestion and advice. C'mon man....you are an AMERICAN....you can figure it out!!!! So what if you lose or it doesn't work EXACTLY the way you intended. Being an AMERICAN, I will bet you can figure something out and work around any shortcomings you might encounter.

I have the DR Brush Mower with the accessory 42 inch regular mower deck. I use the brush mower to clear trails, and use the mower deck to maintain them. In your case, rent a walk behind brush mower for a day, clear the trails you want, and use your new mower to maintain them.

My solution has been to spray first and then follow up with my weed wacker. I like to think that this is a bit more of a permament solution, well 6 mths perhaps plus its a lot cheaper
