One of my co-workers lets AT&T use her land for a tower. They rent it from her for the measly rent of $10,000.00 a year according to her. She did buy a new motorcycle after the first rent check, so maybe she wasn't kidding.
That's peanuts when you see the return they get from that tower site investment. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

Back about five years I was part of the Lucent team that installed a cell system
for PrimeCo in Dallas, Fort Worth. We had one site where the man kept holding
out for more and more money. If I recall correctly, it started at $500 a month
then it went to $750 with free phone service and then the final offer of $1000 plus
two free services. This whole offering/bartering went on for about six months.

This man just happen to mention it to a neighbor,
Long story short, the neighbor got the cell tower. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

My neighbor (about a mile) has one and recieves $800 per month. If they call once a week and tell them the warning lights are or are not working, thats an extra $25!

ther are actually com panies that do nothing but build towers for others to use.
Check the net you chould be able to find some. They try to find locations that are suitable for at least 3 carriers.
Crown Caslte is one that come to mind off hand. I'll try to remember others. Its been a while sence I worke with those folk.

As for a prime location it depends on many factors. type of service,FAA regs if within so many miles of any type of airport and so on.

U would think a tall hill or small mtn would be good spot but not always.

For $800 a month I'd tear down my house and let them build one here!
