I don't know about tractors, but
1*the emperical actuarial data on Mitsubishi vehicles show that they are the least reliable vehicle to come out of Japan. /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif
1*Simply Hog Wash Compared to my experence of owning 3 of their Import pick ups over the past 18 years.
Still have 2 of them.

The mitsubishi and the Dodge D 50 PICK UPS made by them are one of the best imports made.

Better than Toyota, Honda, and Nissan?

Mitsu's on the whole are the least reliable cars and trucks to come out of Japan, based on data collected by Consumer Reports and others. Three favorable personal experiences don't negate that fact.

But Larry, are these not the 3 vehicles that you trade off license plates or only drive 4 months out of the year? So if so maybe that is why you have no trouble with them.

MTD/Cub Cadet's first overseas asssociation was with--- you guessed it, Kubota. I am now working on the 3 cylinder Kubota diesel out of my 1981 782D. This is a very thick chunk of well built cast iron engine, and I am rebuilding it to the highest of standards- my own.

OK, things have changed since the 1980's, I have woke up to that fact. Kubota has had tractors in this country for a long time, and their products still have a great reputation for quality. Nuff said there, although pricey I have not had any problems locating parts or service info for the 782D's Kubota engine. Impressive, in that it keeps the classic restoration project going in a totally positive direction. Just have to budget a bit for it.

Why Cub eventually went with Mitsubishi as a builder? Anyone's guess. I have not one nice thing to say about Mitsubishi. If they renamed their corporation, "Impossible," it might be more realistic. They made the Japanese Zero as a kamikaze plane. There is a good reason why. They are a wanna-be Honda/Toyota and always will be IMHO.

Mitsubishi Heavy Industries spun off the auto division in 1970. The two companies are completely independent of each other.

The engine in the Zero was built by Nakajima, who after the war changed their name to Fuji, the owners of Subaru. I imagine Kubota tractors contributed to the war effort for the Japanese also.

I still like my Cub/Mitsubishi.
