Compact Diesel trucks that we can't get here

Why would anyone want a tier IV emissions diesel in a light duty application such as a small pickup . That is just looking for trouble , frustration and extra expense .
The direct injection gasser is a more suitable application for light and some medium duty applications .

Every truck made now is CRAP! Gone are the days when you wanted to fix your truck you just needed a few tools, now a whole tool chest of metric tools and sockets.

Not just trucks, but cars also. I've rebuilt carburetors but when those went away, I stopped working on cars. However, it's not all bad. The cars now are more reliable and last longer so I really can't complain. My 1972 AMC Javelin got to 140,000 miles before I gave up on fixing it every weekend so i could get to work the next week. The Dodge intrepid had about 230,000 miles on it when we drove it half way across country and was still working well when we gave it away.

My Chevy 6.0 has 291,000 miles over 9,000 hours and still going strong. Weren’t the “good ole days” vehicles junk at 100k? It’s a good thing they were easy to work on because there was sure a lot of it happening.

We dont have these problems with light duty commercial vehicles here, only with cars.
If you use a 6.7 Cummins as a commuter vehicle, you will never get the DPF and DEF systems to operating temperature. A guy who works for us, didnt have a single problem with his Sprinter 519 (Sprinter 3500 3.0 diesel)

You see the same in tractors, with 4 cylinders up to 175hp, engine downsizing to get higher exhaust gas temperatures so exhaust aftertreatment systems dont clog up.

My colleague has a Ram 2500 Cummins, 5.9 24 valve. Put on commercial truck license so he can afford the road tax.
If you swap the Cummins to a Merc V6, you will not wear out the Merc engine before the body is rusted out 🙈
